À peine lancée en janvier 2012, la collection Oxymore
remporte un immense succès. Les connaisseurs ont en
effet aussitôt reconnu en elle une ligne destinée à rejoindre les grands classiques de la manufacture.
L’énergie de son design et la pureté de sa taille escalier
confirment en effet l’infinie créativité de Saint-Louis, toujours capable de puiser dans son patrimoine et ses savoirfaire pour créer de nouveaux objets qui répondent aux
usages de l’époque.
Initialement composée de trois verres à eau et à vin clairs,
d’une flûte claire et d’un rœmer bleu foncé ou flanelle,
Oxymore devait donc s’étoffer. C’est chose faite cette
année avec un très séduisant service de bar et de carafes.
Soit six propositions pour dresser une table d’une évidente modernité. La carafe à décanter marie avec superbe
l’indispensable rondeur à la force d’un bouchon inédit
taillé en escalier. Ce bouchon architecturé vient aussi
coiffer l’élégante carafe à whisky à cordons plats qui
appelle le partage. Généreux en main, le gobelet à whisky
confirme la puissance d’attraction de la matière.
Magnifiquement apprivoisé par les maîtres-verriers de
Saint-Louis, le cristal clair laisse admirer le whisky qui
perle sur ses parois avant de savourer ses arômes moelleux. La chope procure le même plaisir de la préhension,
complice d’un broc à eau revisité avec à-propos. Allégé de
son anse, il se fait carafe à l’épure essentielle. Le fond
géométrisé en cordons plats taillés profonds dialogue
avec l’épaule douce et le col joliment galbé, offrant à la
table une signature radicalement contemporaine.
From the moment of its launch in January 2012, the Oxymore
collection became an instant success. Connoisseurs immediately recognised a line certain to become one of the
Manufacture’s great classics.
The energy of its design and the purity of its staircase cut
attest to the infinite creativity of Saint-Louis, which is ever
able to draw on its heritage and expertise to create new
objects that are perfectly attuned to the conventions of the
time.
Initially comprising three clear water and wine glasses,
one clear flute and one hock in flannel-grey or dark blue,
the Oxymore collection was destined to grow – and so it
has, this year adding an enchanting bar and decanter service, making a total of six options for a resolutely modern
table. The decanter superbly combines a strikingly original
staircase-cut stopper with the indispensable roundness of
its body. The architectural stopper is also found on the elegant flat-cord cut whisky decanter, inviting companionship.
To hold the voluptuous whisky tumbler in the hand is to
appreciate the sensual appeal of its material. Beautifully
crafted by Saint-Louis’ master-glassmakers, the clear crystal
allows you to admire the beads of whisky that form on the
sides before you savour its mellow flavours. The highball is
just as pleasurable to hold, accompanied by a matching water
pitcher, aptly revisited. Relieved of its handle, the carafe
becomes essential purity. The geometric base in a deep
flat-cord cut creates a dialogue with the gentle shoulder and
the beautifully contoured neck, giving your table a radically
contemporary look.
