1.Certain verbs form their passé composé with être instead of avoir.
Many verbs that are conjugated with être express motion to or from a
place.

NB: Ne ... pas goes around the verb avoir in the passé composé. It also
goes around the verb être in the passé composé.

2. The past participle of verbs conjugated with être must agree with the
subject in number (singular and plural) and in gender (masculine and
feminine). The past participle is like an adjective. Note that when on
means nous, the past participle agreement is the same as for nous.

Note that since all the past participles of the verbs above end in a vowel,
there is no difference in sound.
