Décès d'Eric Palante
A 8h30 ce matin alors que l’équipage du camion balai se portait sur la position du motard 122 afin de le récupérer, au km 143 de la

étape entre Chilecito et San Miguel de Tucuman, il a découvert le corps sans vie d'Eric Palante, pilote belge de
spéciale de la 5
la moto n.122.
Les circonstances et les causes du décès sont analysées par le fiscal subrogante en Feria (juge) Doctora Analia Castro de
Massucco de Belen, province de Catamarca.
Aucune alerte n’est parvenue auprès des organisateurs. Eric avait été ravitaillé en eau dans l'après-midi.
La famille du pilote a été prévenue dans la matinée par l'organisation.

aux amis d'Eric.

Fallecimiento de Eric Palante
A las 8h30 de esta mañana, el equipo del camión escoba que se dirigía hacia la posición del corredor n°122 con el fin de
recuperarlo (en el Km. 143 de la especial de la 5ª etapa entre Chilecito y San Miguel de Tucumán), descubrió el cuerpo sin vida de
Eric Palante, piloto belga de la moto n°122.
Tanto las circunstancias como las causas del fallecimiento están siendo analizadas por parte de la fiscal subrogante en feria Dra.
Analia Castro de Massucco, de Belén provincia de Catamarca.
No llegó ninguna alerta a los organizadores. Eric había pasado por el punto de aprovisionamiento de agua por la tarde.
La familia del piloto fue avisada en el transcurso de la mañana por la organización.
Era la 11° participación en el Dakar de Eric Palante, de 50 años, que tenía este año la ambición de ganar la categoría de « baúles
moto ». Conocía perfectamente la prueba de la que, a través de los años, se había constituido en pilar, gracias a su entusiasmo y
su seriedad.
Es con una profunda tristeza que los organizadores y toda la familia del Dakar presentan sus condolencias a los familiares y
amigos de Eric.

Death of Eric Palante
At 08:30 hours this morning, as the crew of the broom truck was plotting the position of bike rider 122 to pick him up, at kilometre

143 on the special of the 5 stage between Chilecito and San Miguel de Tucuman they found the body of the Belgian rider Eric
Palante (entrant no. 122).
The circumstances of Eric’s death are the subject of an analysis by the Judge Dr. Massucco of Belen [Catamarca province].
No alert was received by the organisers, and Eric’s water had been replenished in the afternoon.

The rider’s family were told of the accident by the organisation in the morning. Fifty-year-old Eric Palante was taking part in his 11
Dakar and hoped to win the amateur trophy for motorbikes. He knew the race very well, and over the years his enthusiastic but
serious approach had made him one of the pillars of the event.
It is with great sadness that the organisers and the entire family of the Dakar offer their condolences to Eric’s family and friends.
