rebaptiser « LoJo » récemment.
Cette abréviation de « Lower
Johnson » n’est pas qu’une
manœuvre publicitaire : le tronçon
accueille maintenant les meilleures
boutiques indépendantes en ville.
Les propriétaires sont sympathiques
et faciles d’approche en général.
La plupart se spécialisent en
vêtements griffés, mais la rue
réserve d’autres surprises, dont ses
légendaires restaurants.
Lined with heritage merchant buildings now painted in bright blues, greens, and yellows,
the picturesque 500-block of Victoria’s Johnson Street has been re-branded in recent
years as “LoJo.” But the abbreviated Lower Johnson moniker isn’t just spin. In fact, this
highly browsable stretch is home to the city’s best independent boutiques, many run by
cool-but-chatty hipsters. And while most specialize in distinctive designer clothing, there
are some extra treats along the way—including great local-legend eateries.
BREAKFAST
Lady Marmalade: Crammed with those vintage vinyl chairs
and Formica tables usually found only in grandparents’
basements, this funky eatery is a cozy, den-like breakfast
spot. Drop by for a quick fuel-up and you’ll still be happily
hunkered in a corner hours later. The art-lined walls are sustenance enough, but it’s the heaping, home-style nosh that
lures regulars: hearty organic tofu scramble or wild salmon
eggs Benny will set you up perfectly for a leisurely LoJo

DÉJEUNER
Lady Marmalade : Cette tanière douillette et anachronique est
idéale pour un déjeuner original. Chaises en vinyle d’époque
et tables en mélamine vous font voyager dans le temps. Il est
facile de s’y terrer pendant des heures, ne serait-ce que pour
admirer les œuvres d’art qui tapissent les murs. Évidemment,
c’est la généreuse cuisine maison qui fait revenir les habitués :
faites le plein de tofu bio brouillé ou d’œufs bénédictine au
saumon sauvage, avant de musarder dans le quartier LoJo.
