Thanksgiving opens the doors. It changes a child’s personality. A child is resentful, negative—or thankful. Thankful children want to give, they radiate happiness, they draw people.” —Sir John Templeton Readings for the Week Monday, 23rd 2 Kgs 17:5-8,13-15a,18 Ps 60:3-4,12-13 Mt 7:1-5 Tuesday, 24th The Nativity of St. John the Baptist Is 49:1-6 Ps 139:1b-3,13-15 Acts 13:22-26 Lk 1:57-66,80 Wednesday, 25th 2 Kgs 22:8-13;23:1-3 Ps 119:33-37,40 Mt 7:15-20 Thursday, 26th 2 Kgs 24:8-17 Ps 79:1b-5,8-9 Mt 7:21-29 Friday, 27th The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Dt 7:6-11 Ps 103:1-4,6-8,10 1 Jn 4:7-16 Mt 11:25-30 Saturday, 28th The Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary Lam 2:2,10-14,18-19 Ps 74:1-7,20-21 Lk 2:41-51 Sunday, 29th Sts. This trend is expected to continue through the summer. Because of the large influx, CCA’s supplies are low. They need household items to set up 60 apartments over the next two months. These apartments are for families arriving from refugee camps all over the world. Items desperately needed include furniture, pots and pans, twin size sheets and comforters, cleaning supplies, bathroom supplies, etc. If you have any of these items and can drop them off at CCA’s Northlake office, please contact Kim Longshore at (678) 222-3964 or email at [email protected]. Additional help is needed by volunteers willing to help staff with the actual moving in and setting up of these apartments. Stephen Ministry Going through a crisis? School Office Summer Hours The school office at St. Peter Claver Regional School will be open during the summer Mondays-Thursdays, 9:00AM-3:00PM. School office will be closed Fridays. Praying Pacem in Terris The application of this principle likewise safeguards the dignity of citizens. Their obedience to civil authorities is never an obedience paid to them as men. It is in reality an act of homage paid to God, the provident Creator of the universe, who has decreed that men’s dealings with one another be regulated in accordance with that order which He Himself has established. And we men do not demean ourselves in showing due reverence to God. On the contrary, we are lifted up and ennobled in spirit, for to serve God is to reign. (50) Except of Pope John XXIII’s Pacem in Terris Provided by Justice & Peace Ministries, Archdiocese of Atlanta KPC Scholarship The deadline for turning in applications for the KPC Scholarship is Tuesday, July 1st. If you are a graduating senior from the parish, you are eligible to apply. Scholarship application forms are available from any Knight or from the Parish Office.
