CAPSULE 01 KNOW MORE TO RESPOND BETTER DRUG USE IS EVERYBODY’S BUSINESS! Like any other types of addiction, drug abuse fills a need, a void, a weakness. While it is difficult to help someone who does not want to be helped, we should keep in mind that those who use drugs usually do it for a reason. National Addictions Awareness Week 2013, from November 18 to 24, is the ideal time to reflect on our behaviours and those of the people around us. No one is immune to addiction. We are all affected by this problem at one time or another, to an extent or another, whether at home, at work, or at play. NEED HELP? Often, the best thing to do is to leave this task to professionals. However, we can show our support by referring a person to a help resource. It’s like telling this person that he/she is important to us! You cannot force or impose anything, but the important is to be well-informed. Then, it is up to each individual to take the necessary steps to seek help from qualified practitioners.
