DIASPORA IN CANADA
Introduction
Au cours du mois d’octobre 2011, un groupe de ressortissants de la
diaspora des Mauritaniens au Canada a pris l’initiative d’une pétition
dans le but de protester contre les procédures discriminatoires qui
sont actuellement en cours en Mauritanie dans le cadre de la révision
de l’État civil du pays. Cette pétition a été mise en ligne pour une
période d’un mois, du 20 octobre au 20 novembre 2011.
Parallèlement à cette initiative, le groupe a lancé un appel aux
ressortissants mauritaniens à travers le Canada pour participer à une
marche qui a été organisée à Ottawa le 22 novembre 2011 et qui a
rallié une centaine de d’entre nous, venus de différentes villes
canadiennes.
