The goal of the labex MILYON is to gather altogether colleagues in mathematics and

fundamental
computer science in Lyon. The perimeter of the labex consists of the three
Inria
research units in these fields (all colleagues included). The three activities of the labex
are of course research, but also support to new curricula for (possibly foreign) students
and dissemination of scientific culture.
Concerning research, thematic programs are held regularly and post-doctoral positions
are offered every year, as well as grants at the master level. Concerning dissemination,
a house of mathematics and computer science is settled, as well as an instructional
summer school for young students.

Competence and expertise
Many researchers have a very strong international visibility for their scientific
works. Moreover the labex covers the widest possible spectrum of skills in mathematics and fundamental computer science. There is a strong tradition of international
exchanges. The various actions towards the educative system and the society in general are henceforth unified and boosted.

The labex MILYON has an international recognition for fundamental research in
mathematics and computer science. The labex MILYON wishes to be involved in all
applications at the interplay with any other scientific field. One of its singularities is
the strong will from its researchers to disseminate scientific knowledge.
