Overview
The SEL-3421 Motor Relay HMI can:

Read metering and monitoring data.
➤
Inspect targets.
➤
Control relay operations.
➤
Display diagnostics.
➤
Display, trigger, or clear events.
The SEL-3421 has ten LEDs, eight of which are tricolor
and programmable, with configurable labels. ENABLED
and TRIP are the two fixed LEDs. This module has a
graphical display with six pushbuttons for navigation,
five soft keys for functions, and four pushbuttons for
control.

Connection

The SEL-3421 connects to the HMI Ethernet port
on the SEL-849 relay and receives power from the
HMI port.
Figure 1 shows the main menu screen. Using the Up
Arrow or Down Arrow and ENT pushbuttons, you can
navigate to specific menu items in the main menu.

Connection to the relay requires an RJ45 Ethernet
cable, such as the SEL-C627M, double-shielded,
600 V, MCC-rated, category 5e Ethernet cable,
with a maximum length of 7.62 meters (25 feet).

When the relay is turned on, the HMI displays
with default settings, as shown in the product
photo in Overview.
Refer to Section 8: Human Machine Interface and
Section 1: Introduction and Specifications, in the
SEL-849 Instruction Manual for more details on the
HMI operation and specifications.
NOTE: Make sure the relay, HMI, and SELBOOT
firmware revisions are compatible. Refer to
Appendix A: Firmware and Manual Versions in the
SEL-849 Instruction Manual.

For customizing the LED labels on the SEL-3421
and SEL-3422 modules, order Configurable Label
Kit, P/N 915900268.

Order P/N 915900269 for replacement screws and
DIN rail clips and supports for as many as five
SEL-3421/SEL-3422 HMIs.

The SEL-3421 does not ship standard with an
SEL-C627M Ethernet cable. To purchase an
