Cette phrase définit parfaitement le projet biographique d'Alejandro Jodorowsky : restituer
l'incroyable aventure et quête que fut sa vie.
Le film est un exercice d’autobiographie imaginaire. Né au Chili en 1929, dans la petite ville de
Tocopilla, où le film a été tourné, Alejandro Jodorowsky fut confronté à une éducation très dure et
violente, au sein d’une famille déracinée.
Bien que les faits et les personnages soient réels, la fiction dépasse la réalité dans un univers
poétique où le réalisateur réinvente sa famille et notamment le parcours de son père jusqu’à la
rédemption, réconciliation d’un homme et de son enfance.
Il brosse ici la fresque d'une existence qui exalte, au-delà de toute mesure, les potentialités de l'être
dans le but de repousser les limites de l'imaginaire et de la raison, et d'éveiller le capital de
transformation de vie qui se trouve en chacun de nous.
"This movie is an exercise of an imaginary autobiography , not in the sense of fiction, because all
the characters, places and events are real, but in the fact that the deep history of Alejandro
Jodorowsky’s life is a constant effort for expand imagination and to open its limits, to apprehend
its therapeutic potential.
Alejandro Jodorowsky was born in Tocopilla, a small town in the middle of the Chilian dessert. It was
there where he discovered the key aspect of reality and confronted the strong education of a family
without roots.
With imagination as his main alia, we will understand how one of the principal creator of the last
decade
was
born, understanding why
the
point
of encounter in
all
his
work
in different disciplines (Poetry, Philosophy, Cinema, Tarot, etc) is his great imagination.
