The Homo Habilis appeared two million years ago.
Since then, the man as always tried to collaborate
with his fellow men. During the twentieth century,
the hyper-individualist Homo Consumens suddenly
appeared in our regions… The result is devastating :
in less than a century, he has destroyed his living
conditions like none of his predecessors, leading him
to an inexorable extinction.
However, the Homo Cooperans is back since a
decade. More than being a nice concept, it is already a
real practice for million of people who have changed
their way of life : some people share their car, their
houses, their tools, meals, toys, share their time and
knowledge while others transfer the production back
in the neighborhood. Together, when our political
leaders cannot agree, they play one of the last cards
to modify the threatening curve of climate change.
The path if far from being straight and easy! New
companies understood how to take advantage of
this economical far-west (Uber, AirBnB, etc.) without
really changing the rules of the game. Thus, it is
imperative to define together the structure in which
the collaborative economy will benefit to everyone.
This book is a bit of fresh air, an optimistic outburst
to change course right now.
It is a reflexion about the Uberisation of our society
and how to get out of it, by presenting the various
potentialities that another collaborative economy
could offer. According to Matthieu Lietaert, the
solutions are already there to act as soon as now.
Michel Bauwens and Sophie Rabbhi kindly accepted
to write the preface and postface.
