Preliminary Information Package
Who We invite athletes who are born in or before 2001 and demonstrate motivation, willingness to

athlete expresses interest in attending the camp coaches will evaluate the appropriateness of their
participation based on the past season and over the coming months.

Why
Spring training camp is an excellent way for athletes to get an early start for on-water training and to
prepare for the upcoming racing season. Specifically, it is an excellent way to improve conditioning,
technique, and boat skills – all while in a fun environment.
It is important that athletes enter the camp physically and mentally ready to train. This preparation
happens now and throughout the winter. Attendance and effort are important throughout the season.

Flights
This year, families can book their own flights. We will determine 1 – 2 times that a coach will make a
pick up from the Fort Myers airport.
Anyone who makes arrangements that are not compatible with the pick-up schedule will be
responsible for their own transportation from the airport to the camp. Feel free to stop by the office
to discuss alternative transportation between the airport and the camp (i.e. shuttles). Please discuss
any arrangements with Marc Creamer or the office before booking flights.

Homework
Athletes will be expected to keep up with their studies. Internet-free homework time will be allotted
each evening. Additionally, free time is available during the day to further work on studies.
Technology
Cellphones are not recommended for this camp. There will be a camp phone available for athletes to
call home. Calling cards are also an option. We do not want athletes to run up roaming and
international fees on their bill.
Personal laptops are also very useful for staying in touch and doing homework. PCCC will also have a
computer on-site that the athletes will have access to. While using the internet during the mandatory
homework hour is forbidden, athletes will have access to the Riverside Retreat’s “hotspot” throughout
the day. If, due to streaming, the athletes go over the 20 gb limit the athletes will be charged the
difference.
