Museum of Ontario Archaeology is seeking an Executive Director Are you a leader who believes that museums can profoundly change the world? The Museum of Ontario Archaeology (MOA) is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the museum according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. We are looking for a leader who can inspire a shared vision and attract the resources (human and financial) needed to make the vision a reality. A person who connects well with people and can effectively manage the needs and expectations of diverse interests. We believe that MOA has tremendous potential to become a place of inspiration where people can experience the excitement of discovery, come to a greater understanding of archaeology and Indigenous history, and connect through shared experiences. Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in applying leadership and management principles as they relate to museums, and/or non-profit, voluntary organizations. Demonstrated understanding of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the museum. Ability to secure resources (human and financial) to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrated proficiency in managing human and financial resources as well as project management. Demonstrated capacity to work with First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples of Canada. Knowledge of all federal and provincial legislation applicable to museum sector organizations. Demonstrated computer proficiency including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher. Experience 5 or more years of progressive management experience in a voluntary sector organization. Academic degree in museum studies, cultural management, archaeology, or related field. Background or understanding of Ontario archaeology and First Nations history would be an asset. Submission Applications must be submitted by July 9, 2016.
