Chair Awards The CHSRF/CIHR Chair Award holders listed here are a distinguished group of applied health services and nursing researchers. As educators and mentors, they will use a variety of approaches to their work — creating innovative communications and uptake curricula, improving distance learning techniques, holding summer institutes, establishing student placements in health services facilities and supervising research apprenticeships. The chairs will apply their experience and knowledge to build innovative programs for graduate students and newer faculty to enhance their research methods and communication skills, equip them with appropriate tools and practical experience, and broaden their networks for research and dissemination. The chairs program is the flagship of our Capacity for Applied Developmental Research and Evaluation in health services and nursing program (CADRE for short). CADRE is made up of five inter-related programs aimed at increasing the Canadian capacity in applied health services, systems and nursing research and the use of the resulting research for effective policy and decision-making. Coupled with the Regional Training Centres, another key CADRE program, the chairs will create a national framework to develop health services and nursing research capacity. The foundation is pleased that these awards have been made possible in partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and regional co-sponsors for each chair.
