Reporting to the Lead Sales Manager, Discrete Automation
and Motion, the Local Business Unit Manager Motors and
Generators manages the Canadian Motor and Generator
business. The incumbent is responsible for sales revenue,
management of personnel, P&L (and Balance sheet) and
accountable to deliver results (as per targets) for all Motor
and Generator activities in Canada.
Responsibilities:
Business strategy execution
- Develop, implement, monitor and manage the sales growth
strategy for the Canadian Motor and Generator business as
well as target the prioritized channels and customer
segments.
- Develop strategic plans and growth initiatives to significantly
increase the business.
- Set the direction and provide the vision for the organization.
- Collaborate and represent ABB Canada Motors and
Generators within NAM Motor and Generator business as well
as NAM Discrete Automation and Motion division.

- Establish an appropriate sales and marketing and execution
capability for the Canadian market that leverages the ABB,
Baldor, Dodge and Maska Brand names
- Establish and maintain a strong safety culture within the
organization
Business operations and financials
- Maintain broad oversight of operations ensuring compliance
with Company policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain a regular internal and management
review process with appropriate KPI and action plans for
improvement.
- Develop and maintain a strong Quality, Opex and cost
management culture.
- Review information on budgets and plans throughout the
year to share deviation and focus on the prevention of missed
business opportunities.
Business Opportunities / Sales
- The incumbent will be required to take an active personal
role in business development and growth initiatives.
- The manager will be responsible for establishing and
managing a multi-channel approach to the Canadian market
involving various direct and indirect sales activities for project
and product business in Canada.
- Develop a strong working partnership with the LBU for
Drives and Controls to create a strong industrial automation
presence in our key markets
- Provide leadership and direction for the Industry Account
Management team to support the LBU’s growth ambitions
- Build and retain long-lasting relationships with existing and
new customers (including internal ones) and the ABB and
Baldor feeder factories.
- Develop plans and proposals for customers by setting
mutually agreed upon action plans which include
commitments to delivery, performance measures, product
reliability and price.
People Development and Management
- The incumbent is accountable for resource management
and optimization and will leverage existing skills, improve
utilization through strong organizational alignment and
through strong growth initiatives focus.
- Overall responsbilily is to lead a multidisciplinary team
across Canada including guiding, motivating and developing
direct and indirect subordinates and ensuring compliance with
company policies.
- Put in place an effective management team for the busines
and coach and challenge the Canadian Motor and Generator
organization on strategy execution and performance.
- Provide leadership that promotes independent action,
teamwork, and results-orientation.
- Provide counsel and support to senior managers, and lead
the resolution of human resources issues and technical
problems.
- Direct continuous improvement efforts and oversee the
organization’s performance relative to quality of products and
responsiveness to customer requirements.
- Enable the team to develop their own ideas and support
them with the necessary resources and guidance.

Demandes
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 15 years relevant experience
- Good P&L Management experience
- Excellent communication skills and bilingualism (French (an
asset) & English)
- Possess good interpersonal skills and relationship building
skills
- A creative team player that works extremely well with others
- Broad business and relevant industry experience with strong
financial background
- Strong sales and business development experience
- Experience in operations
- Demonstrate management and leadership skills with ability
to develop a high performing team
- Intercultural sensitivity
- Ability to manage time and deal with multiple projects
simultaneously (multi-tasking)
- Change Management Leadership experience
