T-OINOS. CLOS STEGASTA Vins Grec T-OINOS. Greece is one of the oldest wine making regions in the world. T-Oinos is the first wine in 3000 years to be produced from the volcanic soil of Tinos, a World Heritage listed island of the Cyclades. Alexandre Avatangelos originally trained as a philosopher and theologian and now operates a 10 hectare vineyard in the central eastern part of the island, at an elevation of 400 m. To preserve the wild beauty of the site, which was covered by immense rocks thousands of years ago, the vineyard is cultivated in accordance with the rules of organic farming. The varietals grown are Greek and many of them come specifically from the Cyclades : Mavrotragano and Avgoustiatis for reds and Assyrtiko and Malagousia for whites.
