SYNOPSIS (English):
On a winter evening, a small group of people get together in the “White Box” a chic restaurant of Buda,
the posh river bank of the city. They are young, some of them are rather successful, others aren’t.
They are friends, adversaries, lovers, betrayed women, loyal clients and unexpected visitors. An
ambitious lawyer, an ER surgeon, a second class opera singer, a misunderstood decorator, a
successful businessman, a family mother, a solitary theatre critic.
At the same time on the other side, in Pest, the popular river bank district of Budapest, cars are
overturned, garbage is set on fire. In Buda, in the restaurant, all is quiet. At least on the surface.
Nothing important is happening, other than that someone is cheating on someone else, someone is
lying to their friend, a young woman reveals that she is expecting a child and her boyfriend left her…
and they consume, small canapés with caviar, smoked salmon and wine…
SYNOPSIS (français):
Au cours d'une soirée d'hiver, une petite compagnie se réunit dans White Box, un restaurant chic de
Buda, rive élégante de la ville. Ils sont jeunes, certains d’entre eux ont du succès, d’autres non ; des
amis ou adversaires, des amants, des femmes trompées, des clients fidèles et des visiteurs
inattendus. Une avocate ambitieuse, un chirurgien urgentiste, une chanteuse d’opéra de second rang,
un décorateur incompris, un entrepreneur à succès, une mère de famille, un critique de théâtre
solitaire. Pendant qu’en bas, à Pest, rive populaire de Budapest, on renverse des voitures, on met le
feu aux poubelles, à Buda, dans ce restaurant tout est calme, au moins en surface. Il ne s’y passe rien
d’important sinon que l’un trompe l’autre, quelqu’un ment à son ami, on apprend qu’une jeune femme
attend un enfant et son ami la quitte... et on consomme, des petits canapés au caviar, au saumon
fumé et du vin...
