Ask pupils to discuss in pairs the sort of things they associate with Easter and share in class. Support /Extension Small toy to hide 1b. Introduce phrase meaning ‘Happy Easter’ – Joyeuses Pâques. Ch repeat. Tell ch traditional French story about the Easter bells. 3. Give out accompanying picture, one per ch. Familiarise ch with some of the vocabulary in the picture (see left), using actions. Opportunities for reinforcement / cross-curricular work: Arrange an Easter egg hunt. Use directions in French to help ch search. Eg. Cherchez à gauche/cherchez à droite, deux pas à gauche/droite, tout droit, etc. Here you could also introduce prepositions, eg. Sous la table, dans le sac, etc. Crayons/coloured pencils Pictures can be made into colour-by-number activities with numbers corresponding to written form of colours below the picture.
