Baby Bivy
Congratulations on purchasing the Chariot Baby Bivy – a comfortable yet supportive carrying cot for
transporting your infant, and for moving them in or out of your Chariot without disturbing their slumber.
Note: The Baby Bivy is only compatible with 2003 and newer Chariot CTS models (except the Caddie).
The Baby Bivy cannot be used with older models and cannot be installed in the Caddie, Cavalier, and
SideCarrier models.
Compatible models can be recognized by:
– Drilled holes in the lower front section of the carrier’s upper frame.
– Baby Bivy compatible lap belts, whose buckles are adjustable at both sides.
Initial Assembly time: About 5 minutes.
Tools Required: A 7/16” or 11mm open end or adjustable wrench and a Phillips drive screwdriver.
Recommended Size and Weight Restrictions
The Baby Bivy is recommended for use with infants between the ages of new born and 6 months old.
The maximum recommended infant weight and height for use in the Baby Bivy is 6 -18 lb/3 - 8 kg and
26 inches/66 cm.
A. Installing the Front Mounting Parts to your Carrier (one time installation)
Any reference to orientation (left or right) is from the passengers’ point of view while in the carrier.
Single-child carriers only require the steel D-ring installation described in the following 3 steps.
Note: If you’re attaching this Baby Bivy to a 2003 - 2005 model year Chariot, steps 2 and 3 below are
incorrect. Specifically, to secure the Baby Bivy’s D-rings in step 2 you must use the bolts that are
provided with the purchase of the Baby Bivy. Additionally, regarding step 3, the bolt head and the Dring should be positioned on the top side of the upper frame, and the nut on the bottom of the upper
frame.
1. The arrow indicates the location of the drilled hole with the permanently installed nut in the carrier’s
left front frame. See Figure 1.
2. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the pre-installed bolt from the nut secured in the carrier’s upper
frame. See Figure 2.
Note: Do not use the hardware provided with the Baby Bivy.
3. Place the D-ring on to the bolt and re-install the bolt into the bottom side of the carrier’s upper frame.
See Figure 3.

4. Two-child carriers also require the installation of the separate black webbing strap with buckle and
two plastic rings. To install these parts, thread the loose strap end (the end without the buckle) down
through the left hand D-ring, then into the two plastic rings, and then up through the right D-Ring. The
two plastic rings should now be located between the two D-rings. Thread the strap end back through
the two plastic rings and then thread the strap end through the ladder lock. See Figure 4. Fully tighten
the strap by pulling the loose end until the web strap is taught. See Figure 5.
Note: Over tightening the web strap on two child carriers can cause the carrier’s upper frame to flex. If the
carrier’s handlebars become difficult to install, release some tension from this strap.

Warning: Ensure the Baby Bivy is properly attached to the child carrier’s seat and frame. Failure
to properly attach the Baby Bivy to the carrier could result in serious injury or death to
the occupant in the event of an accident.
B. Securing the Baby Bivy to Your Carrier
1. Tighten the carrier’s lap belt buckles as close to the carrier’s seat as possible. See Figure 6.
2. On two-child carriers the Baby Bivy can be installed into either of the outside seating positions, or the
center seating position. If the center seating position is the desired location, the lap belt buckles need to
be switched. Specifically, the female buckle needs to be moved to the right hand side and the male to the
left hand side. See Figure 7.

3. Now you are ready to install the Baby Bivy. Your infant’s head should be positioned in the carrier
next to the seat back, with their feet facing forward. Clip the rear buckles on the Baby Bivy into the
carrier’s lap belt buckles. See Figure 8.
4. For single-child carriers, attach the Baby Bivy’s two forward plastic hooks (located under the foot
area on each side) to the D-rings. On two-child carriers, attach the plastic hooks to the two plastic
rings installed on the webbing strap if you intend on securing the Baby Bivy in the center seating
location. This may require positioning a plastic ring on each side of the Baby Bivy. For an exterior
seating position, secure one plastic ring to the D-ring and one ring to the plastic hook. See Figure 9.
The Baby Bivy is now ready for strolling. See Figure 10.

Warning: Ensure the Baby Bivy is properly attached to the child carrier’s seat and frame. Failure
to properly attach the Baby Bivy to the carrier could result in serious injury or death to
the occupant in the event of an accident.
Note: The Baby Bivy should be horizontal to the ground or the head slightly higher (Max 2”/ 5cm)
otherwise your infant could slide down into the Baby Bivy.
Note: Extra blankets or jackets can be added to the carrier’s foot well to help support the lower portion of
the Baby Bivy.
Note: Regularly check that your infant is comfortable in terms of their body temperature. Extra clothing
may be required in cooler weather, and use the carrier’s ventilation features appropriately.
Note: If you own a Cougar SX or CX, and the interior space is too small for the Baby Bivy, you can
remove the padded seat insert.
C. Baby Bivy Additional Features
1. Inside the Baby Bivy is a separate padded insert. This insert can be removed to increase the interior
space for larger infants. As well, when infants are wearing more clothing during cooler weather, it
may be necessary to remove the insert. See Figure 11.
2. If your infants face is at all covered by the Baby Bivy cover, the zipper can be unzipped partially and
the top portion of the cover folded under. See Figure 12.
3. The carrying straps can be lengthened or shortened for personal comfort, or shortened so that the
straps are out of the way while installed in your carrier. Slide the ladder lock buckle up to add length,
and pull the ladder lock buckle down to make the strap shorter. See Figure 13.

Warning: When transporting or carrying the Baby Bivy, ensure that the zippers are done up so as
to prevent your infant from accidentally falling out.
Warnings:
The Baby Bivy uses the carrier’s lap belt to secure its rear section in the carrier. As such, your infant is
not able to be secured directly with the carrier’s seat belts. As well, infants cannot wear properly fitting
helmets. Therefore, the following warnings must be obeyed:
• The Baby Bivy is designed for walking or strolling only. Therefore, do not use the Baby Bivy for
any high-speed activities, including running, skiing, hiking, and bicycling. Doing so could result
in serious injury or death to the occupant in the event of an accident.
• Do not use the Baby Bivy if your infant does not meet the recommended weight and height ranges
of 6 -18 lb/3 - 8 kg and 26 inches/66 cm, or if for whatever reason your infant is not comfortable
in the Baby Bivy.
• Ensure the Baby Bivy is properly attached to the child carrier’s seat and frame. Failure to properly
attach the Baby Bivy to the carrier could result in serious injury or death to the occupant in the
event of an accident.
• When transporting or carrying the Baby Bivy, ensure that the zippers are done up so as to prevent
your infant from accidentally falling out.
• Ensure that your infant’s face is not covered by the Baby Bivy cover or blankets. Failure to do so
could result in suffocation.
• Never leave children unattended in the carrier.
Porte-bébé Bivouac
Nous vous félicitons d’avoir acheté le porte-bébé Bivouac de Chariot, lit portatif à la fois douillet et solide
vous permettant de transporter votre bébé, de le mettre dans le Chariot et de l’en sortir sans le réveiller.
Remarque : Le porte-bébé Bivouac n’est compatible qu’avec les trousses CTS de Chariot 2003 ou plus
récentes (sauf le Caddie). Le porte-bébé Bivouac ne peut pas être utilisé sur d’anciens modèles et ne peut
pas être installé sur les modèles Caddie, Cavalier et SideCarrier.
Caractéristiques permettant de reconnaître les modèles compatibles :
- Trous percés en bas de la partie avant du châssis supérieur.
- Ceintures abdominales compatibles avec le porte-bébé Bivouac, dont les boucles sont ajustables de
chaque côté.
Temps d’assemblage initial : environ 5 minutes.
Outils nécessaires : une clé à fourche ou ajustable de 7/16 po ou 11 mm et un tournevis à clou-vis Phillips.
Recommandations de taille et de poids
Le porte-bébé Bivouac est recommandé pour les nouveaux-nés jusqu’à l’âge de 6 mois. Le poids maximal
recommandé est de 6 à 18 livres (3 à 8 kg) et la taille maximale est de 26 pouces (66 cm).
A. Installation des pièces de montage avant sur votre chariot (installation permanente)
Toute référence à la droite ou la gauche est faite du point de vue du passager lorsqu’il se trouve dans le
chariot. Dans le cas des chariots pour un enfant, on n’a besoin que de l’installation avec l’anneau en acier
en forme de D décrite dans les trois étapes suivantes.
NOTEZ: Si vous attachez le bivouac dans un modèle 2003 à 2005, les étapes 2 et 3 dans les
instructions suivantes sont incorrectes. En particulier, pour attacher les anneaux en forme de D
dans l’étape 2 il faut utilisez les boulons qui vient avec le bivouac. En plus, les anneaux en forme de
D devrez être installé au dessus du cadre supérieur et l’écrou devrez être installe en-dessous du
cadre supérieur.

2. Avec un tournevis Philips enlevé les boulons qui sont installées dans le cadre supérieure. Voir Figure
2.
3. Placer l’anneau en forme de D sur le boulon et réinstaller le boulon dans la cote inferieur du cadre
supérieur. Voir Figure 3.

4. Dans le cas des chariots pour deux enfants, on a besoin d’installer la bande de tissu noir séparée
équipée d’une boucle et de deux anneaux en plastique. Pour installer ces pièces, enfiler l’extrémité
libre de la bande (celle qui n’a pas de boucle) dans l’anneau gauche en forme de D, puis dans les deux
anneaux en plastique et enfin dans l’anneau droit en forme de D. Les deux anneaux en plastique
devraient maintenant se trouver entre les deux anneaux en forme de D. Enfiler l’extrémité de la bande
dans les deux anneaux en plastique puis dans la boucle autobloquante. Voir figure 4. Serrer la bande à
fond en tirant sur l’extrémité libre jusqu’à ce que celle-ci soit bien tendue. Voir figure 5.
Remarque : Lorsqu’on serre trop la bande en tissu sur le chariot pour deux enfants, le châssis supérieur
peut fléchir. Si le guidon du chariot devient difficile à installer, relâcher un peu la bande.

Mise En Garde : S’assurer que le porte-bébé Bivouac est bien attaché au siège et au châssis du
chariot. Si le porte-bébé Bivouac n’est pas correctement attaché au chariot, cela
pourrait causer des blessures graves ou mortelles au bébé en cas d’accident.
B. Comment fixer solidement le porte-bébé Bivouac à votre Chariot
1. Serrer les boucles de la ceinture abdominale du chariot aussi près du siège que possible. Voir figure 6.
2. Dans le chariot pour deux enfants, le porte-bébé Bivouac peut être installé dans l’une des deux places
externes, ou dans la place centrale. Si vous désirez l’installer au centre, les boucles de la ceinture
abdominale doivent être interverties, et plus précisément, la boucle femelle doit être déplacée sur la
droite et la boucle mâle sur la gauche. Voir figure 7.

3. Vous êtes maintenant prêt à installer le porte-bébé Bivouac. La tête du bébé doit se trouver près du
dossier du siège du chariot, avec les pieds vers l’avant. Insérer les boucles de l’arrière du porte-bébé
Bivouac dans les boucles de la ceinture abdominale du chariot. Voir figure 8.
4. Dans le cas des chariots pour un enfant, attacher les deux crochets avant en plastique du porte-bébé
Bivouac (situés de chaque côté au niveau des pieds) aux anneaux en forme de D. Dans le cas des
chariots pour deux enfants, attacher les crochets en plastique aux deux anneaux en plastique installés
sur la bande en tissu si vous désirez attacher le porte-bébé Bivouac dans la place du centre. Il faudra
éventuellement mettre un anneau en plastique de chaque côté du porte-bébé Bivouac. Pour l’installer
dans les places externes, attacher un anneau en plastique à l’anneau en forme de D et un anneau sur le
crochet en plastique. Voir figure 9. Le porte-bébé Bivouac est maintenant prêt et vous pouvez vous
promener. Voir figure 10.
Mise en Garde : S’assurer que le porte-bébé Bivouac est bien attaché au siège et au châssis du
chariot. Si le porte-bébé Bivouac n’est pas correctement attaché au chariot, cela

Remarque : La porte-bébé devrait être installer d’une manière donc il soit parallèle au sol.
Remarque : Il est possible d’ajouter des couvertures ou des vestes supplémentaires autour des pieds du
porte-bébé Bivouac de manière à en soutenir le bas.
Remarque : Vérifier régulièrement que votre bébé est à l’aise, suffisamment couvert. Il vous faudra peutêtre des vêtements supplémentaires par temps plus froid, et utiliser le système d’aération du chariot de
manière appropriée.
Remarque : Si vous possédez un Cougar SX ou CX, et que l’espace intérieur est trop petit pour le portebébé Bivouac, vous pouvez enlever le rembourrage amovible du siège.
C. Caractéristiques supplémentaires du porte-bébé Bivouac
1. À l’intérieur du porte-bébé Bivouac, il y a un rembourrage amovible séparé. Celui-ci peut être enlevé
afin d’augmenter l’espace intérieur pour les enfants plus grands. En outre, lorsque les bébés portent
davantage de vêtements par temps froid, il est peut-être nécessaire d’enlever ce rembourrage. Voir
figure 11.
2. Si le visage de votre bébé est légèrement couvert par le couvercle du porte-bébé Bivouac, vous pouvez
descendre la fermeture éclair partiellement et replier la partie supérieure du couvercle par-dessous.

3. Les bretelles de transport peuvent être allongées ou raccourcies pour votre confort personnel, ou
encore raccourcies pour que les bretelles ne vous gênent pas une fois le porte-bébé installé dans votre
chariot. Faire glisser la boucle autobloquante vers le haut pour allonger la bretelle, et la faire glisser
vers le bas pour raccourcir la bretelle. Voir figure 13.

Mise en garde :
On a besoin de la ceinture abdominale du chariot pour attacher la partie arrière du porte-bébé Bivouac
dans le chariot. En fait, votre bébé ne peut pas être attaché directement avec la ceinture de sécurité du
chariot. En outre, les bébés ne peuvent pas porter des casques bien ajustés. C’est pourquoi, les mises en
garde suivantes doivent être respectées :
• Le porte-bébé Bivouac a été conçu uniquement pour la marche ou la promenade. Ne pas
utiliser le porte-bébé pour des activités demandant de la vitesse, telles que la course, le ski, la
randonnée et le vélo. De telles activités, en cas d’accident, pourraient causer des blessures
graves ou mortelles au bébé.
• Ne pas utiliser le porte-bébé Bivouac si votre bébé n’atteint pas le poids et la taille
recommandés, à savoir entre 6 et 18 livres (de 3 à 8 kg) et 26 pouces (66 cm), ou si pour
quelque raison que ce soit, votre bébé n’est pas à son aise dans le porte-bébé Bivouac.
• S’assurer que le porte-bébé Bivouac est bien attaché au siège et au châssis du chariot. Si le
porte-bébé Bivouac n’est pas correctement attaché au chariot, cela pourrait causer des
blessures graves ou mortelles au bébé en cas d’accident.
• Lorsque vous transportez ou portez votre porte-bébé Bivouac, assurez-vous que les fermetures
éclair sont bien remontées afin d’empêcher votre bébé de tomber accidentellement.
• Assurez-vous que le visage de votre bébé n’est pas couvert par le couvercle ou les couvertures
du porte-bébé Bivouac, car il pourrait étouffer.
• Il ne faut jamais laisser les enfants sans surveillance dans la remorque.
