Classe/Class : MS Matière/Subject : English Présentation et objectives du cours/Aims and objectives of the course : To enable children to recognise and to write their names and to increase their vocabulary orally through stories, poems and play, to encourage greater autonomy. Harmonisation des pratiques pédagogiques et objectifs de formation et de certification/Harmonisation of educational methods and goals relating to exams: There are no formal exams at this level. The children are working towards the foundation level in this area, which complements the French programme. The teachers work in close collaboration to ensure that all areas of the language curriculum are covered during the school year. The teachers also put in place a programme of themed topics to be covered through the year, linking to festivals and special events. Programme/Syllabus: Speaking using appropriate vocabulary Taking it in turns to speak Listening to teacher and other children Listening to stories and poems Looking at a variety of story books Repeating poems Retelling stories in their own words Developing vocabulary for classroom objects and activities Using standard English Recognising their own names and writing them Ordering events chronologically Imaginary play Understand acceptable behaviour within school Learn to share and collaborate with others Understand the consequences of their actions Learning to take out and put away equipment in the classroom Awareness of safety within the classroom and in the playground Follow instructions Using the toilet properly Looking after their own things and those belonging to others. Programme/ Syllabus: Basic numeracy, counting up to ten Use number rhymes and songs to count to ten Recognising and writing numbers up to ten Identify shapes, e.g. circle, square, rectangle, triangle Time – recognising the days of the week, the months of the year and specific events, e.g. birthdays, Christmas Identify differences in size, e.g. big, small, tall, short Creating and continuing patterns.
