Above 2000-2300 m the loose snow is light and easily transportable by the NW wind. In particular, in the areas bordering with France and Switzerland and locally with Piedmont new wind accumulations could be triggered by the passage of a single skier; therefore they must be locally evaluated, aboveall close to ridges and passes, on slope changes, near bumps and on the open slopes. Natural avalanche activity : limited, single sluffs and small avalanches of recent loose snow, especially on steep sunny anc rocky slopes, in the areas most affected by the last snowfall. Avalanche danger trend for the next days: stationary, locally increasing the artificial triggering on the basis of the NW wind activity. It is possible to put on the ski from 1200-1400 m (with the exception of the central axis of the Valley, at southern aspects, where the snow cover limit is higher). The snowfall of 19-20 December added powder snow on the good basal layer created by the November's snowfall. In the areas most affected by the last precipitation (Gran Paradiso and south-eastern areas) it is common to break through the snow of about 30 cm with skis and up to 60-70 cm on foot. Small accumulations are present due to the SE wind on Tuesday, that has created slight snow waves and, locally, surface slabs, usually triggerable with high overload. The bond between the new snow and the old one is generally good. Just after the snowfall, surface loose snow avalanches and small surface slabs have been observed on the steepest slopes and at the base of the rock bars, between 2500 and 2800 m, in particular on the northern aspects.
