The Registry may decide to give you “Urgent
Status” if:
You, or someone in your household, have a
terminal illness that is made worse by the place
you live right now.

serious life threatening medical condition that is
made worse by the place you live right now and a
change in housing will save your life.
What do you have to do?
To get Urgent Status, you must:

Give The Registry an address and phone
number where they can contact you.
Keep your file up to date by telling The
Registry about all changes.
Give The Registry documents that prove
you have a medical urgency and how it is
linked to the place you live right now. The
documents must be from a medical doctor
who is aware of your medical situation and
your housing situation
If there is not enough information in the
documents, Registry staff will contact either you or
the person who wrote the letter to get more
information. The Registry may ask you to attend
an interview with one of their staff.
What if you owe money to a social housing
organization?
If you owe money to a social housing provider,
you must make arrangements with them to pay.
You must follow through on the payment
arrangement.
What else do you need to know?
If you are a single person, you will be offered a
bachelor or a one-bedroom apartment.
If you are applying as a family, you will be offered
either an apartment or townhouse with the
appropriate size for your family.
You are entitled to a maximum of three housing
offers. You can refuse the first two if you don’t
want them. If you refuse the third offer, your
application will be cancelled. You can apply
again, but you will go to the bottom of the waiting
list. You will lose your Urgent Status.
Registry staff will decide if you qualify for Urgent
Status.

Ménage prioritaire & situation d’urgence
(médicale)
Un membre du ménage souffre d’une maladie
terminale que la situation de logement ne fait
qu’empirer.
Un membre du ménage souffre d’une condition
médicale grave qui menace sa vie et que la situation
de logement ne fait qu’empirer et un nouveau
logement remédierait la menace mortelle de la
condition.
Que devez-vous faire?
Pour obtenir le statut de situation d’urgence, vous
devez :

Si vous avez un problème médical urgent,
le Centre d’enregistrement pourrait vous
accorder le status de « situation
d’urgence » sur la liste d’attente pour un
logement social.
Le statut de situation d’urgence signifie
que, peu importe le moment de votre
inscription, vous aurez un niveau de priorité
élevé pour l’attribution d’un loyer indexé sur
le revenu.

Indiquer au Centre d’enregistrement une adresse
et un numéro de téléphone où l’on pourra vous
joindre.
Tenir votre dossier à jour en signalant tout
changement de votre situation au Centre
d’enregistrement.
Remettre au Centre d’enregistrement les
documents qui prouvent l’urgence médicale et
son lien avec votre logement actuel. Ces
documents doivent être signés par un médecin
qui connaît votre situation médicale et vos
conditions de logement.
Si les documents n’offrent pas assez d’information, le
personnel du Centre d’enregistrement communiquera
avec vous ou avec l’auteur de la lettre pour obtenir de
plus amples renseignements. On pourra vous
demander de passer une entrevue avec un membre du
personnel du Centre d’enregistrement.
Que se passe-t-il si vous devez de l’argent à
une organisation de logement social?
Si vous devez de l’argent à un fournisseur de
legements sociaux, vous devez prendre des
arrangements de paiement et en respecter les
modalités.
Que devez-vous savoir d’autre?
Si vous êtes une personne seule, on vous proposera
un studio ou un appartement à une chambre à
coucher.
Si vous présentez une demande à titre familial, on vous
proposera un appartement ou une maison en rangée
offrant suffisamment de place pour votre famille.
Vous avez droit à trois offfres de logement. Vous
pouvez refuser les deux premières, si tel est votre
choix. Au troisième refus, votre demander est
annulée. Vous pouvez refaire une demande, mais
votre nom sera inscrit à la fin de la liste d’attente.
Vous perdrez votre status de situation d’urgence.
Le personnel du Centre d’enregistrement déterminera
si vous êtes admisssible au statut de situation
d’urgence.
