When it comes to an event based on Paris and creation, no place could be better
qualified for hosting such a project than the Galeries Lafayette.
Paris has a twofold image. As part of a long history, it shines out for its
extraordinary heritage, and continues to attract visitors eager for romanticism.
As a fashionable city, it has a rich offer of culture and events that leads thousands
of tourists to choose Paris for short stays every year.
Paris & Création pays tribute to these two aspects. Installed in a historic monument,
it offers an exploration of current creativity in the highly imaginative fields of art,

Paris & Création will be staged in the Galeries Lafayette from 25 June to 14 August,
through two flagship projects.
The Galerie des Galeries, a venue in the store dedicated to creation, will be hosting
a “carte blanche” exhibition by Vanessa Bruno, the event’s special guest. A vital
figure in the French fashion landscape, she embodies the «made in Paris» talent famous
all over the world, through her energy and boundless inspiration.
Meanwhile, the series of windows on the Boulevard Haussmann will be providing a map of
the city’s artistic programme through displays laid on by eight cultural institutions:
the Centre Pompidou, Les Arts Décoratifs, la Maison rouge, le Musée d’Art moderne
de la ville de Paris and the Palais de Tokyo which were present in 2009 and also tree
new arrivers this year, the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine, The Parc de la
Villette and the Lieu du Design. These extracts from larger exhibitions will illustrate
the thrilling artistic current that runs through the visual arts, design and cinema in
Paris. Each of these places will represent an art, a district and a programme, bringing
out all the city’s geographic and cultural diversity. Everyone – initiates and noninitiates, Parisians, tourists from within and outside France – is sure to be amazed by
the creative energy of the installations, and we hope will soon set out to see these
places for themselves.
The Regional Tourist Board for Paris Île-de-France region renews in 2010 its support
to the Paris & Creation, an event reflecting the image of a welcoming, dynamic,
innovative and trendy destination.
