Scrap of fabric for backing
1/4 yd. of lightweight fusible interfacing
2/3 yd. of a small rick rack
1 cup crushed walnut shells (bird or lizard litter
found at pet stores)

Cross stitch with 2 strands of floss over 2 linen threads except where noted.
Trim 3/4” away from the stitched design on all 4 sides.
Cut the fabric backing the same measurement as the linen.
Cut 2 pieces of fusible interfacing the same measurement as the linen. Iron one piece on the reverse side of
the backing and the linen.
n Sew the linen front to the fabric backing, right sides together. Use a 1/4” seam allowance. Leave a small
opening on the bottom seam for turning.
n Turn and stuff with finely ground walnut shells. Blind stitch the opening closed.
n Stitch the rick rack to the pincushion, covering the seam line.
