For 25 years, Aga Khan Foundation Canada has offered the
International Youth Fellowship (IYF) – an extraordinary training
program and overseas placement for recent university graduates and
young professionals. Each Fellow participates in an intensive monthlong international development seminar in Ottawa and then spends
eight months in Africa or Asia working with agencies and partners of
the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), one of the world’s largest
international development agencies. Since 1989, more than 400 young
Canadians have participated in the program.
Depuis 25 ans, la Fondation Aga Khan Canada offre des stages pour jeunes en

backgrounds and interests.

The International Development Management (IDM) Fellowships provide
a variety of professional opportunities in research, communications,
monitoring and evaluation, and administration in the fields of health,
education, rural development, and civil society strengthening.
The International Microfinance and Microenterprise (IMM) Fellowships
place young Canadians with organizations involved in microfinance or
microenterprise development, and provide opportunities to gain skills in the
day-to-day operations and evaluation of these programs.
The Young Professionals in Media (YPM) Fellowships offer young Canadian
journalists the opportunity to gain experience working with the Nation
Media Group, a leading media institution in East Africa. This equips them
with the skills to work effectively in today’s global media environment.
Les stages en Gestion du développement international (GDI) offrent diverses
occasions professionnelles en recherche, communication, suivi et évaluation,
et administration, et ce dans les domaines de la santé, de l’éducation, du
développement rural et du renforcement de la société civile.
Les stages en Microfinance et microentreprises internationales (MMI)
placent les jeunes Canadiens dans des organisations impliquées en

unexpected changes. This is primarily an opportunity to learn that,
regardless of what you might think, your contributions are significant.
Most importantly, have a work-life balance – in addition to doing your
work, experience as much of the culture as possible. If you can, take

displacement – these things have a damaging impact
on people and cultures, and damaged people can
be hard to work with or befriend, particularly if
you were raised in affluence. But the fact that not
everyone who suffers is noble does not make the
work of reducing that suffering any less important.” /
