WORLD CLASS COMPETITIVENESS
CLUSTER
Boost the economy through open innovation
Systematic Paris-Region: a strategy combining key
technologies and growth markets
Standing at the crossroads between Software and Digital Technologies, the Systematic Paris-Region competitiveness cluster asserts
its place in 5 major industries and services sectors (Transports,
Energy, Security, Healthcare and Telecommunications). Systematic
Paris-Region’s 2013-2018 objectives focus also on 3 key markets:
Factory of the Future, Digital cities and IT development for companies
and organizations (open systems, Big Data…), all of which are at the
heart of the 21st century challenges and that development increasingly
relies on the know-how of Systematic members.
Issues of application channels determine the priority technological
areas developed by Systematic Paris-Region within the Software and
Digital sector: those most promising transformation and innovation for
companies in these sectors. These are the following lines: Embedded
Systems and Internet of Things, Digital infrastructures, Modeling,
Simulation and HPC, Digital Trust, Open Source and Big Data.
The challenge is twofold:
Develop technologies, companies and markets software and digital
Transform and develop through the digital competitiveness and
innovation in eight industrial sectors and services
Systematic Paris-Region: an innovative growing cluster
Since 2005, the Systematic Paris-Region Cluster has developed
472 R&D projects representing a total R&D investment of €2,5 billion
including €850 millions funded by the French Government, Regional
economic development agencies and the Paris-Region local authorities.
The commitment of all the clusters’ actors in the “Open Innovation”
way creates synergies between SME’s, industrial firms and research
laboratories and allows the emergence of innovative projects.
Above all, Systematic Paris-Region is becoming a “product factory”.
6
The cluster’s
main objectives
Systematic seeks
to boost the

ERP5 is based on 5 generic concepts (Node, Movement, Resource,
Item, Path) which form the architecture of the core system and all extensions. This approach creates a simple and compact data model (only
12 tables being used) and guarantees ease of access for engineers.
ERP5 is implemented with a «Pure Object» data and storage model,
which - together with the 5 generic concepts - allows to build highly
customizable applications such as multi-site production planning and
management solutions, large scale payment transaction processing or
multi-national accounting systems complying with local legal requirements.
ERP5 is auditable, highly scalable and tries to map to client processes
instead of requiring to match processes to standardized software
(«best practice»).

multiple processes (cores/CPUs/machines).

Key objectives of NEO are scalability and resiliency to hardware
failures. Both are achieved through parallelism by scattering multiple instances of NEOs internal nodes on different machines. A
master node (backed up with spares) orchestrates data distribution
through administration of a partition table, which is accessed by
all nodes of a cluster.
Key innovations
Scalability is further enhanced by using finer-grained locking which
minimizes contention as the number of applications accessing
the database grows.
Main customers
Resiliency is managed both on a close neighborhood level (inside
a single data center) by keeping multiple copies of any object
synchronized, as well as on a global level with remote replicate
clusters, asynchronously fetching changes as they happen.
NEO removes classic database constraints (storage space,
available bandwidth) making it the ideal storage layer for Big
Data applications.

e6stnet is an IPv6-based low latency overlay network. It
creates a resilient, scalable network «on top» of an existing
IPv4 network by creating «tunnels» (connections) on demand
and then routing targeted traffic through these tunnels.
Traditional network-routing transfers traffic along the estimated
shortest direct route between two computers. re6stnet guarantees
connectedness between those computers in case the direct route
isn’t available by implementing an «internet on top of the internet»
in case of a failing route.
This way re6stnet allows to create very large, stable and private
networks as base architecture for critical business applications
while also assigning IPv6 addresses to machines where only
IPv4 is available.

enderJS is a JavaScript library which allows to build applications from modularized HTML5 components (called gadgets).
Gadgets may consist of HTML/CSS/JavaScript and can contain
encapsulated logic (JavaScript), which may be exposed to other
gadgets. This helps reusing multiple instances of a gadget within
a single-page web application or easily integrate gadgets into
other applications.
renderJS is enforcing a strict, asynchronous syntax in order to
expose a standard interface including method acquisition and
error handling across all gadgets embedded in a page directly or
through the use of iframes. This way it is possible, for example,
to securely add third-party gadgets or gadget-based functionality
into existing applications.
renderJS can be used to define graphic user interface (GUI)
components such as editors or viewers as well as non-GUI
components like translators or storage connectors making gadgets the prototypical building block for complex client-centric
web applications.

lapOS is an open source grid operating system for cloud
computing. It’s based on the principle: «Everything is a
process».
SlapOS uses an automated POSIX process-based architecture,
which allows to share a single machine’s RAM, CPU and libraries
across multiple users and applications. This results in higher capacity utilization per server and lower maintenance cost compared
to classic cloud providers.
SlapOS is constructed as a grid spanning multiple continents.
The idea is to always have data available from multiple regions in
order to mitigate the risk of data loss based on electricity failure,
connectivity loss or natural disasters.
By incorporating business process modelling into its architecture,
SlapOS can be used to provide decentralized IAAS (Infrastructure), PAAS (Platform) and SAAS (Software) service solutions at
a fraction of the cost and with a fully open source codebase.
Possible use cases could range from offering private cloud-storage
apps to hosting specialized software or full featured business
applications like ERP5.

The Scilint Code Analyzer is available in opensource
T
he high-tech industry uses many domain specific numerical
languages to develop new products: modelisation languages
(Modelica), scientific languages (Matlab,Scilab,R,etc.), optimization languages (Cplex, etc.). Most of these languages have
been developed by actors of the industry, to fill their immediate
needs, and not by traditional actors from the software industry.
As a consequence, they lack the usual tools available for other
languages: editors and editing tools, code generators, compilers,
code analyzers, style-checkers, translators, converters, etc.
OCamlPro is specialized in programming languages. Originally
devoted to the OCaml programming language, we are involved
in collaborative projects to work on numerical languages, for
which we develop new tools: Scilint, a code analyzer for Scilab;
Optal, a new compiled optimization language, OcpModelica, a
style-checker for Modelica. Based on this experience, we now
develop tools for these languages on-demand, opensource
when possible, to improve the productivity of our customers in
their favorite language.

M
anipulating data is the corner stone of software programming. TypeRex allows you to easily develop software that
will read data in any format, manipulate and tranform it
efficiently in a structured way, and then output the results to files
or databases. With in-depth pattern-matching, transformations
have never been so easy to express, and programs so easy to
maintain and evolve, thanks to static typing and functional programming. TypeRex extends the OCaml programming language
with new development tools for project management, debugging
and profiling, and new libraries to build graphical interfaces and
read or write many file formats.
