Phew, what a week it was!
Book Fair / La fête des livres
Many, many thanks to the many parents who helped at our Book Fair and to the many of you who
stopped by and purchased books. Thanks to you, our library raised $800!
Basket Ball Game students versus teachers
Did you know that last Wednesday and last Thursday, at lunch, our boys and girls’ basket ball
teams played an awesome game of basket ball versus the teachers in front of a cheerful and loudly
encouraging student audience. A total of $340.00 was raised for our Gr. 7’s to go to camp. That’s
the Riverdale spirit!
Jump Rope for Heart (in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation).
Thank you to our Gr. 7 leaders for setting up the stations and to Mrs. Hodak, Mrs. Cole and Mrs.
Wells for organizing the event. Although we have yet to tally the grand total, we have already
surpassed our school commitment of $1,000.00! As a result, students will have an extended recess
on Monday. Way to go Riverdale!
Hot Lunch last Friday
Again, it went without a hitch and students were delighted with the sandwiches. Un grand merci to
Mrs. Newell’s team.
Festival de Films
This year again, our Gr.3 to Gr. 7 French Immersion classes will be going to the Festival de films at the
Guildford Cinemas on Wednesday. The movie is called “Belle et Sébastien”, a beautiful story of a young
boy named Sébastien and his Saint-Bernard dog, Belle.
Anti-Bullying Wristbands
Anti-Bullying Day is next Wednesday, February 25th. As in the past year, we honor this day by wearing
pink and anti-bullying wrist-bands. This year, with the help of the Free the Children Club, we are again
selling wristbands for $1.00 each. Simply have your child bring $1.00 to the office.
Non-Instructional Day
Friday is a non-instructional day. A reminder that students do not attend school on that day. Teachers will
be at school and will develop strategies to improve numeracy discourse amongst our students.
