ILLUMINA INC.
Advancing Research using Illumina’s Sequencing Technology
LE JEUDI 12 AVRIL 2012 À 12 H 15
Pavillon Charles-Eugène-Marchand, salle Hydro-Québec (1210)
Illumina offers an extensive portfolio of next generation sequencing systems. HiSeq, the highest
throughput sequencer in the world, is about to get better. Later this year, the HiSeq upgrade, termed
the HiSeq2500, will be enabled to sequence a human genome in a single day! With a simple click of a
mouse you can switch between the high-throughput mode (generating over 600Gb in a single run) and
the rapid run modes.
Recently, Illumina introduced the MiSeq personal sequencing system in tandem with Nextera™ a new,
more streamlined, single well enzymatic reaction sample prep chemistry that both fragments and adds
adapter in less than 2 hours. The MiSeq/Nextera next-gen combination allows researchers to go from
sample to analyzed data in as little as eight hours.
MiSeq data output will be >7 Gbase per run this summer. TruSeq custom amplicon and targeted
sequencing, small RNA, de novo genome assembly and 16S Metagenomics are just some of the
applications that will be discussed. Illumina’s next-gen sequencing chemistry and technology has been
cited in over 2,000 peer-reviewed publications in just the past four years, a feat unsurpassed by any
previous life science technology.
