Imran Ahmad is a Business Law Partner in the Toronto office and specializes in the areas of
cybersecurity, competition and foreign investment law. As part of his cybersecurity, privacy
and data breach practice, Imran works closely with clients to develop and implement
practical and informed strategies related to cyber threats and data breaches. He focuses on
legal risk assessments, compliance, due diligence and risk allocation advice, security and
data breach incident preparedness and response. He also provides representation in the
event of an investigation, enforcement action, or litigation.
Imran was recently appointed to the Advisory Board of the Canadian Advanced Technologies
Alliance’s Cyber Security Council. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the
Ontario Bar Association’s Privacy and Access to Information Law Section.
Imran’s competition and foreign investment practice encompasses a wide range of
competition and foreign investment matters. He regularly advises both Canadian and foreign
clients with respect to merger review, abuse of dominance, refusal to deal, misleading
advertising and foreign investment approvals across a broad spectrum of industries.
Imran also advises clients in connection with criminal conspiracy and bid-rigging
investigations under the Competition Act.
In 2015, Imran was appointed Vice-Chair of the Marketing Practices Committee of the
Canadian Bar Association’s National Competition Law Section.
Prior to his call to the bar, Imran was a political advisor to Lieutenant-General the
Honourable Roméo A. Dallaire (Ret’d), Senator, and clerked for Justice Edmond P.
Blanchard at the Federal Court of Canada and Competition Tribunal in Ottawa.
Imran is fluent in English, French and Urdu/Hindi.
