The Theatre of Privas includes : ‐ An auditorium ‐ A hall ‐ A gallery dedicated to Contemporary Art ‐ Administrative offices ‐ A flat At the very beginning of 1964, it has been decided to build a Theatre at Privas. The first stone ceremony took place on 02 June 1967 and the construction started on 22nd Decembre, under Robert BANCILHON’s direction (architect). In 1970, the Theatre opened its gates. The auditorium has 809 seats. Both the stage and the auditorium are fixed but can receive small‐type performances. Bleachers on the stage inable proximity with the public. Subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the Rhône‐Alpes region, the Ardèche Department and financed by the town of Privas, the Theatre of Privas offers a program adapted to any audience, from young to old people, under the banner of diversity : theater, poetry, dance, clowns, opera, circus, music, concerts. We also organize training sessions, workshops and we participate to arts education policy in schools in Drôme and Ardèche. To Privas  By the road Motorway A7, exit at « Loriol » and follow « Privas »  By train Valence City or Valence TGV stations then correspondence by TER bus (SNCF) Valence TGV to Privas : 1h30 Valence City to Privas : 1h The bus station is situated « Cours du Palais » at Privas. To reach the Hotel La Chaumette from the bus station : stay on the same side, walk back (pass by two banks) and, at the crossing, go up the street on your left. Road signs will guide you to the Hotel. It is indead easy to go there by foot. Sole the Selectour agency sells SNCF tickets : 5 Cours St Louis – Privas. Tel. 0033 (0)4 75 64 70 44 Otherwise, you can buy your ticket to the bus driver (Privas/Valence only). Payment in cash only. Transfers The hotel is 5‐minute walk from the bus station and 10‐15 min from the Theatre. Therefore, no local transfers are organised, except if it is really necessary. Evening catering The Theatre serves meal before or after the performances. Meals are delicious, it is really friendly and the cook is use to all kind of diets (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, hallal…) The on‐site catering is our “bonus”. Besides convenience, we have had very good feedbacks from the various teams who came. To be taken into consideration : it is very difficult to find a restaurant opened after 9.00 pm at Privas. The Theatre has its own bar, opened 1h30 before and after the performances, and serves drinks and snacks. Accommodation The Theatre takes in charge the accommodation directly with our partner, 3‐star hotel La Chaumette, located at the centre of town.
