aéroportuaire, Leipzig occupe aujourd’hui une place centrale et
majeure en Europe. En 2008, la société DHL a choisi d’y installer
son hub intercontinental. Cela s’est directement traduit par
la création directe de 3 500 emplois et indirectement de milliers
d’autres. L’emménagement de DHL a, par exemple, incité Amazon
à construire dans cette région son centre logistique national.
La tradition industrielle de Leipzig et ses universités sont deux
autres facteurs qui ont contribué à favoriser l’implantation
de grandes entreprises nationales. Les constructeurs automobiles
Porsche et BMW ont installé ou réhabilité des chaînes
de production. Le géant électrique Siemens les a imités. Dans
le domaine des services, Leipzig a su également attirer
des entreprises de communications et de technologies de
l'information, telles que PC-Ware, AG Softline, ou Primacom,
et de nombreuses entreprises de production audiovisuelle. •

Le taux d’emploi, relativement bas pour l’Allemagne,
a pu augmenter ces dernières années sous l’effet
de plusieurs facteurs. Le district de Lunebourg a tout d’abord
bénéficié du programme européen « Convergences », destiné à
soutenir les créations d’emplois et l’innovation dans les régions
centrales de l’Allemagne. Lunebourg a également tiré profit de
la politique économique volontariste du Land de Basse-Saxe.
Ce dernier soutient depuis 2007 les entreprises innovantes
et favorise la création d’emplois dans l’industrie tout en
renforçant la formation des chômeurs et des travailleurs
intérimaires. Située entre les villes de Brême, Hambourg
et Hanovre, le district de Lunebourg occupe une position
historique de carrefour commercial du Nord de l’Allemagne.
Des financements nationaux et régionaux lui ont permis
de renforcer ses infrastructures autoroutière et aéroportuaire,
contribuant ainsi à son développement économique. •

Leipzig District's employment rate has undergone remarkable growth. In the last
six years, it has progressed by over 10 points, settling at over 70 % in 2010. To reach
such a figure placing this region in the leading pack not only for Germany but also
Europe, this former region of the GDR (German Democratic Republic) has been able
to rely on numerous advantages, primarily its transport infrastructures. In the rail and
airport domains, Leipzig occupies a major position in Europe today. In 2008, the company DHL chose to set up its intercontinental hub in this city. This was translated
by the direct creation of 3,500 jobs, and thousands of indirect jobs. The arrival of DHL
has for example urged Amazon to construct its national logistics centre in this region.
Leipzig's industrial tradition and its universities are two other factors contributing
to promote the implantation of major national companies. Automobile manufacturers
Porsche and BMW have set up or developed their production chains here. The electrical giant Siemens has followed their example. In the services domain, Leipzig has also
succeeded in drawing communications and IT companies including PC-Ware, AG
Softline, and Primacom, as well as numerous audiovisual production companies. •
Lüneburg District has one of Germany's lowest levels in GDP per inhabitant. The
ratio barely exceeds 20,000 euros (i.e. 2.5 times less than in the neighbouring Land of
Hamburg). This highly agricultural region is a place where food-related companies in
particular prosper, chiefly for dairy or organic products. Subcontractors from the automobile and electronics sectors have also settled in the region, contributing to its development. The employment rate, relatively low for Germany, has increased in recent
years due to numerous factors. First of all, Lüneburg District has benefited from the
European Convergence programme, aimed at supporting business creation and innovation in Germany's central regions. Lüneburg has also taken advantage of the proactive economic policy of the Land of Lower Saxony. Since 2007, the latter has supported innovative businesses and promoted job creation in industry, while reinforcing
training for the unemployed and temporary workers. Located between the cities of
Bremen, Hamburg and Hanover, Lüneburg occupies a historic position in northern
Germany's trade cross roads. National and regional financing has enabled it to
strengthen its airport and highway infrastructures, contributing to its development. •
