De voorbereiding van de shows draait op volle toeren,
de inschrijvingen van Hapert zijn reeds gesloten en we
verwachten meer dan 200 dieren op deze show. Verder
in deze nieuwbrief leest u meer over de show in Hasselt.

nieuwe registraties! Heeft u uw nakomelingen al geregistreerd? Sinds de vorige nieuwsbrief hebben we ook 4 nieuwe leden mogen verwelkomen bij de vereniging! Momenteel
wordt er door de redactie de laatste loodjes gelegd aan het eerste AAB-magazine, welke
wij jullie allemaal op de show in Hapert willen presenteren.
Vanwege de nieuwe biosecurity-regels op de shows zijn de oude hekjes welke we altijd in
Hapert gebruikte niet meer geschikt voor shows. De vereniging betaald jaarlijks voor de
opslag van deze hekjes en om deze kosten te verminderen hebben we besloten deze hekjes weg te doen. De hekjes zijn zeer geschikt voor bijvoorbeeld een beurs, tijdelijke mobiele stalletjes etc. Heeft u interesse in een aantal van deze hekjes? Neem dan contact op

Show Hapert
De inschrijvingen voor buffet/diner op 19 maart a.s. zijn nog open tot 11 maart 2016.
Reminder voor de Belgische deelnemers: denk eraan uw toelatingsbrief op tijd aan te
vragen.

Show Hasselt
De inschrijvingen sluiten op 25 maart 2016. Showteam Hasselt heeft een aantal kamers
gereserveerd in Hotel Stayen te Hasselt waarvan er nog enkelen beschikbaar zijn. Ook voor
het diner/buffet zijn nog plaatsen beschikbaar. Wilt u uw goederen laten zien aan het
publiek? Dan kunt u deze aanbieden door het huren van een kraampje. Er zijn er nog een
paar beschikbaar!
De dekhengsten die geselecteerd zijn voor de dekveiling zijn: EPC Legality, Gilt Edge Gold
Standard en Quality Line Go Again. Op de website kunt u meer informatie over hen vinden.
De showcommissie en showteams wensen u alvast een zeer gezellige Alpacashow in

AAB Alpaca Magazine
De redactie van de AAB is druk doende met de opmaak van het eerste Alpaca Magazine.
Als eenmaal alle advertenties, foto’s, redactionele stukjes en ingezonden stukjes binnen
zijn kan de bewerking beginnen. Alle foto’s moeten de juiste afmetingen en kleursamenstelling krijgen. Ze moeten dus stuk voor stuk beoordeeld en bewerkt worden. Ook de
advertenties moeten gecontroleerd worden op afmetingen, kleursamenstelling en
bruikbaarheid voor het drukwerk. Even goed uitrekenen hoeveel ruimte hiervoor nodig is,
want deze pagina’s moeten natuurlijk vrij gehouden worden in het magazine. En
vervolgens aan de hand van de aangeleverde teksten en foto’s een inschatting maken van
het benodigde aantal pagina’s voor de betreffende artikelen. Daarna kan de vormgever
aan de slag met het maken van een indeling. Voor pagina’s met een vergelijkbare opmaak
kunnen sjablonen worden aangemaakt; de andere pagina’s worden één voor één
vormgegeven. Een tijdrovende klus, maar érg leuk om te doen.
Deze keer is de vormgever begonnen met het vormgeven van de cover. Hierop komen
alpacafoto’s te staan van de goudsponsor Alpacafarm Carpe Diem (voorzijde) en van zilversponsor High Meadow Farm (achterzijde). Erg mooi geworden, al zeggen we het zelf.
Aansluitend is de benodigde paginaruimte gereserveerd en ingedeeld voor de advertenties
en de standaarditems die in een magazine thuis horen: de colofon, het voorwoord van de
voorzitter en de inhoudsopgave. Momenteel is de vormgever nog bezig met het opmaken
en inpassen van alle artikelen en foto’s.
En tot slot komt er per show nog een aparte inlage met daarin specifieke showinformatie,
o.a. de rubrieken, een stukje over de jury en de dekhengsten waarvan dekkingen geveild
zullen worden.
Al met al belooft het een prachtig magazine te worden, met dank aan alle inzenders en
met liefde en zorg opgemaakt; zeker de moeite waard om te bewaren. Oordeelt u straks
zelf.
Dierenwelzijn:

Doe je maandelijkse gezondheidscheck*;

Voor leverbot gevoelige gebieden, denk aan het behandelen van je dieren;

Denk er even over na of er dieren zijn die nog extra training vereisen vooraleer
terug te keren naar de showring, start de haltertraining van je juniors;

De lente staat voor de deur dus tijd om uit te kijken voor een scheerder of je eigen
materiaal in orde te brengen;

Zorg dat de dieren ten allen tijde hooi en vers water beschikbaar hebben;

Voorzie extra proteïnen voeding voor lacterende merries zodat deze in goede
conditie blijven;
Gezondheidscheck:
Bodyscore van 1 tot 5 op een schaal van 5;
Controleer de kaken of er geen abcessen aanwezig zijn;
Check even of de dieren geen last hebben van schurftmijt.
Indien je hier niet mee vertrouwd bent, je dierenarts geeft je graag raad hoe je dieren te
controleren.
Showteam Hapert
Showteam Hapert (dit jaar bestaande uit Wouter Coenradie, Dries Luijten, Theo de Veth,
Theo Rijnberg, Anita Huls, Bert de Mooij, Patricia Vreugde, Anne van der Aa en Chantal
Versleijen) is begonnen aan de laatste loodjes voor de 2-daagse show eind maart. De
voorbereidingen zijn in volle gang.
Een en ander komt er in Hapert anders uit te zien dan u de afgelopen jaren van ons gewend was. Aangezien we rekening dienen te houden met strengere maatregelen op het
gebied van
bio-security hebben we qua inrichting en logistiek wat aanpassingen
moeten doen. Zo zijn de houten hekjes dit jaar bijvoorbeeld vervangen door dranghekken en enkele gehuurde paardenboxen (op proef), moet er voldoende afstand gehouden
worden tussen de boxen van de
verschillende fokkers en is er in de hal sprake van
éénrichtingsverkeer van en naar de ring. Ook in de opstelling voor de ring zijn er maatregelen getroffen om ervoor te zorgen dat de alpaca’s voldoende afstand houden van elkaar. Daarbij is het natuurlijk in ieders belang dat de deelnemers de richtlijnen en aanwijzingen ter plaatse netjes opvolgen. Ongeveer een week voorafgaande aan de show
zal er aan de deelnemende fokkers nog een mailing verstuurd worden met nadere details omtrent hun deelname.
Verder hebben we gezorgd voor wat extra variatie op de showdagen door de klassen
anders in te delen. Op de zaterdag zullen namelijk alle merries worden geshowd. Dus via
de suri’s naar de huacaya’s, via bont naar grijs, zwart, bruin, fawn, crème en wit. Tussentijds worden telkens de kleurkampioenen merries bekend gemaakt. Aan het einde van
deze eerste showdag wordt de progeny merries gehouden en zal de showkampioen
merries (huacaya) verkozen worden. Tevens vindt er een dekgeldveiling plaats en wordt
de Junior Handler gehouden op de zaterdag. Er zijn in deze klasse nog plaatsen vrij, dus
kinderen tot en met 12 jaar kunnen zich nog steeds aanmelden.
Op de zondag worden alle hengsten geshowd (suri’s en huacaya’s in alle kleurklassen,
waarbij ook telkens de kleurkampioenen bekend gemaakt worden), is er opnieuw een
dekgeldveiling, vindt de progeny hengsten plaats en zal de showkampioen hengsten verkozen worden. De dag wordt afgesloten met de bekendmaking van de Best of Suri van
de show en met het uitroepen van de Grand Champion Huacaya’s.
Tot slot hebben we al aangegeven dat onze houten hekjes uit het showbeeld gaan verdwijnen. Deze hekjes zullen tijdens de showdagen bij de manege De Lemelvelden staan
en zijn vrij mee te nemen door onze leden (zo lang de voorraad strekt); neemt u hekjes
mee, dan zou een
vrijwillige bijdrage hiervoor aan de AAB ten zeerste gewaardeerd worden.

a.s.!

We are extremely busy with preparations for the upcoming shows. Registration for the Hapert show is now
closed and there are more than 200 entries. News about
the Hasselt show can be found elsewhere in this newsletter.
In the last few months lots of new alpacas have been

In January alone there were 188 new animals registered! Have you registered all last
year’s crias yet? Also, since our last newsletter, 4 new members have joined the
association! At the moment the editorial staff are working hard on the last bits and
pieces for the first AAB magazine, which we are looking forward to presenting to you at
the Hapert show.
Due to the new biosecurity rules for shows, the pens that always used to be used in
Hapert are not suitable anymore. The association pays an annual fee for the pens to be
stored. In order to cut back on costs, we have decided to get rid of them. They are
extremely useful for using at fairs, or other events where a mobile pen is handy. If you
are interested in obtaining some of these pens please do not hesitate to contact John

Hapert show
It is still possible to book a place for the buffet/dinner on the 19th. March. We will be
taking bookings until the 11th. March. A reminder for the participants from Belgium: do
not forget to ask for your return document well in advance of the show.

Hasselt show
Registration closes on the 25th. March 2016. The Hasselt show commission have reserved a number of rooms in Hotel Stayen, Sint Truiden, of which there are still a few
available. There are also still places available for the dinner/buffet. If you have products
that you would like to sell, it is possible to hire a stand. Hurry! There are only a few left.

AAB Alpaca Magazine
The AAB editorial staff are busy putting the finishing touches to the first AAB Alpaca
Magazine.
After having received all advertisements, photos and articles it was possible to begin
with the layout and publication of the magazine. All photos must be the correct size and
colour mode, which means that each individual photo has to be controlled. Also the
advertisements have to each be checked to make sure that they meet the required
criteria for publication in terms of colour, size, etc. A calculation has to be made of how
much space, and therefore pages, need to be left free for advertisements, articles and
photos. Once this has been done, it is possible to begin working on the layout of the
magazine. For pages that are similar to eachother a template can be created to speed up
the process, but the other pages have to be individually assessed and placed. All in all, a
lengthy but enjoyable process!
First the front and back covers were worked on, where there are photos of alpacas. The
front cover features alpacas that belong to the gold sponsor, Alpacafarm Carpe Diem,
and the back cover features alpacas that belong to the silver sponsor, High Meadow
Farm. It looks good, even if we do say so ourselves! Then, the inside of the magazine was
created, with space for advertisements and all the other things that you would expect to
find in a magazine such as, colophon, message from the president, table of contents.
Finally, there is also an appendix for each show which contains specific information pertaining to that show, e.g. the different classes, the judge, the males in the stud auction.
The magazine has been put together with much care and attention and we think that it is
going to be a quality magazine. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. We hope
that you, the readers, will share in our opinion that it is a magazine worth keeping.
The welfare of your alpaca

Do your monthly health check;*

If you live in an area where liver fluke arises, think about treating your animals
with a flukicide (de-wormer);

Think about whether or not there are alpacas that need extra training, especially
bearing in mind the upcoming shows. Start halter training the weanlings.

It is almost spring, so time to start thinking about shearing, either contacting a
shearer or preparing your own shearing equipment.

Make sure that you alpacas always have a readily available supply of hay and fresh
water.

Give milk-producing dams an extra supply of protein so that they maintain condition.
*Health check
Body condition score (BCS) your alpacas. Above a diagramme showing BCS on a scale of
1 to 5;
Control jaws to make sure that there are no abscesses;
Check for mange.
If you are unsure as to how to check your animals, ask your vet. He/she will be more
than happy to help you.
Hapert show commission
The 2016 Hapert show commission (Wouter Coenradie, Dries Luijten, Theo de Veth, Theo
Rijnberg, Anita Huls, Bert de Mooij, Patricia Vreugde, Anne van der Aa and Chantal
Versleijen) is very busy and has begun with the last preparations for the 2-day show which
will take place at the end of March.
There are a few things that will be different to what you have been used to in preceding
years. Due to the new stricter biosecurity rules, there are some changes with regard to
layout and logistics. For instance, the wooden barriers have been replaced with crowd
barriers and a few horse boxes (a trial), more distance has been kept between the pens,
and there is a one-way system for entering and leaving the ring. Also, in the ring, measures
have been taken to ensure that the alpacas are kept at some distance from each other. It
is, therefore, important that all participants follow the instructions that they are given.
Roughly a week before the show, specific information will be sent via e-mail to all
participants.
Otherwise, we have introduced a bit more variation into the show programme, by
presenting the classes in a different order to usual. On Saturday all the females will be
judged, starting with the Suris and moving on to the Huacayas, and progressing from
multicoloureds to grey, black, brown, fawn, and cream, to white. After each colour class,
the Champion for that class will be announced. At the end of the day, the Dam’s Progeny
class will be judged and the Female Show Champion (Huacaya) will be awarded. A stud
auction and the Junior Handler competition will also take place the Saturday. There are
still places available in the Junior Handler competition, so children up to 12 years old can
still register.
On the Sunday, all the males will be judged (Suris and Huacayas in all colour classes and, as
with the female classes, the male Colour Champions will be announced throughout the
day). There will be another stud auction, the Sire’s progeny class will be judged, and the
male Show Champion will be chosen. At the end of the day, the Best of Suri and the Grand
Champion Huacaya will be chosen.
Finally, as has already been said, our wooden pens are not going to be used for shows
anymore. They will be at the menage De Lemelvelden during the show and are free to be
taken away by our members. If you decide to take some with you, we would be grateful if
you would consider making a contribution to the association.

A cause des nouveaux règles de biosécurité sur les shows les vielles barrières qui nous
utilisons toujours à Hapert ne sont plus propre. L’organisation paye annuel pour le
stockage des barrières et pour démineur cette frais nous avons décidé de les supprimé.
Les barrières sont très convenable pour par exemple une foire, des petites stables

AAB Alpaca Magazine
Le rédaction de AAB est très occupé avec la mise en page pour la première Alpaca Magazine.
Quand une fois tous les annonces, photos, petit pièces de rédactions et les pièces soumis
sont reçu le adaptation peut commencer. Tous les photos doivent recevoir les dimensions
et combinaison de couleurs correct. Alors ils doivent chaque un être critiqué et adapté.
Aussi les annonces doivent être contrôlé pour les dimensions, combinaison de couleur et
utilité pour l’ imprimé. Pareillement bien calculé combien d’espace nécessaire, vu que ces
pages doivent gardé libre naturellement dans le magazine. Et ensuite sur la base des
textes et photos fourni faire une évaluation de nombres de pages nécessaires pour les
articles. Après le designer peut commencer avec le format. Pour des pages avec un design
pareille, il peut faire des pâtons ; les autres pages seront désigné un par un. Un travail qui
prend du temps mais très chouette pour faire.
Cette fois le designer est commencé de mis en forme le couverture. Ceci va mettre des
photos des alpagas du parraineur or Alpacafarm Carpe Diem (front) et le parraineur
argent High Meadow Farm (fond). C’est devenu très beau, quoique nous les disons
nous-mêmes. A la suite l’espace de page nécessaire est réservé et partagé pour les
annonces et les valeurs standard qui appartiennent dans un magazine : le colophon,
le préface du président et la table des matières. A ce moment le designer est encore en
train avec le format et adaptation de tous les articles et photos.
Et enfin par show il y a encore un annexe avec d’information spécifique pour le show,
entre autres choses les rubriques, un petit pièce du juge et les étalons de lesquelles sont
offrit pour le vent enchaines. De tout façon il va devenu un beau magazine, avec un grand
merci à tous les envoyeurs et avec l’amour et soins fait, certainement la peine pour le
garder. Juge le tout à l’heure vous-mêmes.
Bien-être des animaux:

Faites un contrôle de santé* mensuelle ;

Pour la douves du foie sensible régions, pensez de traiter vos animaux ;

Croyez une fois si il y a encore des animaux qui ont besoin de plus de dressage à la
longe avant de venir au show, commencez à dresser vos petits ;

Le printemps est devant la porte alors c’est temps pour regarder pour ou contacter un tondeur ou pour mettre en ordre vos matériaux ;

Prenez soins que les animaux ont toujours du foin et de l’eau frais disponible ;

Prévoyez des protéines supplémentaires pour des femelles laitière qu’elles restent
en bonne condition.
Le contrôle de santé :
Prend le condition de vos animaux (bodyscore) et mettez-le sur une échelle sur 5. Voyez
le photo.
Contrôlez le mâchoires si il y a pas des abcès présente ;
Prenez conscience si il n’y a pas des signes de la gale.
Si vous êtes pas habitué avec, votre vétérinaires vous aide avec plaisir comment de contrôler vos animaux.
Showteam Hapert
Show team Hapert (cette année existant en Wouter Coenradie, Dries Luijten, Theo de
Veth, Theo Rijnberg, Anita Huls, Bert de Mooij, Patricia Vreugde, Anne van der Aa en
Chantal Versleijen) est commencé à écorcher les queues pour la 2-jours show fin de mars.
Les préparations sont en plein vitesse.
Il y a des choses qui sont diffèrent à Hapert que l’année passe. Car nous devons respecter
les règles plus dur pour la biosécurité nous avons fait quelques adaptations comme
’aménagement et logistique. Comme les barrières en bois sont changer par des nadars et
quelques box pour des chevaux loué (pour essayer), il faut être assez de distance entre les
box des différentes éleveurs et nous pouvons dire qu’il y a du trafic un sens pour aller et
retourner du ring. Aussi le déploiement avant le ring nous avons pris des dispositions pour
être sûr que les alpagas ont assez de place pour garder la distance entre eux. En plus il est
naturellement d’ intérêt de chaque uns que les participants suivent les directives et les
indications sur place. Environs une semaine avant le show les éleveurs participants vont
recevoir encore un courrier avec les détails de leur participation.
Ensuite nous avons pris les soins pour avoir un peu de variété pendant les jours de show
par diviser les classes différentes. Le samedi tous les femelles sont mis en show. Alors
partir avec les suris et venir au huacayas, par fancy au gris, noir, brun, fauve, beige et
blanc. Entre temps il fait connaitre aussi le champion de couleur femelles. A la fin du
premier jour de show nous faisons aussi le descendance de femelle et le champion de
show femelles (huacaya) va être désigné. Aussi un vente enchaines de saillie et un junior
handler sont organisé le samedi. Il y a encore des places libres, alors les enfants jusqu’à 12
ans peuvent encore se registrer.
Le dimanche tous les males sont présenté (suris et huacaya dans tous les classes de
couleur, et aussi chaque fois le champion couleur est choisi), de nouveau il y a un vente de
saillie enchaines, le descendance d’étalon et le champion de show des males est désigné.
La jour s’engage avec le choix de Best Suri du show et le désigne du Grand Champion
Huacaya.
