Roberto has worked with social housing and has specialized in mobility and traffic control
policies. He now coordinates mobility projects at Mexico City’s Laboratorio para la Ciudad.
He studied a double major in Political Science and International Relations at ITAM, Mexico
City.

Jean-François Barsoum
Jean-François has consulted on the topics of smart cities, innovation & climate change
around the world. Since 2008, he has presented climate change impacts dozens of times. In
2011, he joined the board of directors of Climate Reality Canada. He is also a director at the
Canadian Water Network.

Gilles Bétis
Gilles Betis leads the IEEE Smart Cities initiative and is a member of the institute’s French
chapter. Based in Paris, he is responsible for the “Urban Life and Mobility” action line at the
European Institute of Innovation and Technology EIT ICT Labs.
Au sein de l’IEEE, Gilles Betis est responsable de l’initiative Smart Cities, et est membre de la
section française de l’IEEE. Basé à Paris, il est en charge de la ligne d’action « Urban Life and

Assaf Biderman
An inventor, author, and entrepreneur, Assaf is the founder and CEO of Superpedestrian, a
company which develops new solutions for urban mobility, including the award-winning
Copenhagen Wheel. He also teaches at MIT, where he is the associate director of the
Senseable City Lab.

With 35 years in conservation, generation, distribution and renewable energy, Jack leads the

Gregory Cerallo
Gregory Cerallo is a passionate entrepreneur whose goal is to accelerate mobiledevelopment
in the municipal sector. He founded Heritage Software in 2011 after graduating from McGill
University. He helps the Heritage Software team create innovating solutions which have won
many prizes.

As Secretary for Innovation and Digital Communications of City of Puebla (Mexico), Juan José
is responsible for the strategy of Smart City Puebla project. He was trained as an industrial
engineer by UDLAP-Puebla with graduate degrees in Economic Engineering (Stanford
University) and Logistics (MIT).

Geoff Cross
Geoff ’s team at TransLink leads the development of objectives and policies for
investing,managing and funding Metro Vancouver’s multi-modal regional transportation
system. His group established a performance-based prioritization policy leveling the playing
field for all travel modes and programs.

Filiep Decorte
UN-Habitat’s focal point for crisis-related work in the New York Liaison Office. For over 15
years, he has focused on urban planning, land and housing issues in crisis-affected countries
(Haiti, Palestine, Somalia, and Morocco). He was trained as a civil engineer, architect, and urban
planner.
Filiep Decorte est le point central d’ONU-Habitat pour des situations reliées à la crise au Bureau
de liaison de New York. Depuis plus de 15 ans, il s’est centré sur des problèmes portant sur
l’aménagement urbain, le sol et le logement dans des pays touchés par la crise (Haïti, Palestine,
Somalie et Maroc). Il a suivi une formation d’ingénieur civil, architecte et urbaniste.

II love everything about car sharing and making cities become smarter when it comes to the
entire mobility ecosystem that exists in each. Changing behaviour is what l do, and it inspires
me every day knowing that l am helping the quality of life of so many.

Projjal Dutta
As Director of Sustainability at New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA),
Projjal helps to reduce the city and region carbon footprint and measures its positive impact.
A published author, he lectures extensively at different universities including Harvard, Yale
and Columbia.
Directeur de durabilité, Autorité de transport métropolitain de NY(MTA), Projjal aide à réduire

Jayne Engle
Jayne is curator of Cities for People, an urban innovation network to create more resilient
and livable cities. She practices participatory urban planning and development in the global
north and south, and is currently a PhD candidate at McGill University School of Urban
Planning in Montreal.
Jayne est curatrice de Cities for People, réseau d’innovation urbaine pour créer des villes
plus habitables. Elle pratique un urbanisme participatif et le développement dans le nord et

Director of ICT Strategy and Smart Cities Municipal Institute of Informatics (IMI) of Barcelona
City Council.

Pierre Fortin
Peter is Chief Executive Officer of the Quartier des spectacles (Spectacles District), the
nonprofit organization responsible for the management of public places and the animation
and promoting of the Quartier des spectacles. He has extensive experience in management
and communication.

Neal Gorenflo
Neal Gorenflo is the co-founder of Shareable, an award-winning nonprofit news, action,
connection hub for the sharing transformation. He’s advocate for Sharing Cities, which are
cities run as commons.

Karna is President and CEO of the Information Technology Association of Canada. One of
Canada’s most respected executives in the ICT sector, he has more than 30 years of global
industry experience. He serves on several corporate boards and actively mentors young
companies and entrepreneurs.

Dario Hidalgo
After working 23+ years as an urban transport expert, with projects in 10+ countries, Dario
currently guides global research organization EMBARQ/WRI activities in India, Mexico,
Brazil, Turkey, Colombia and China. PhD & MSc from Ohio State University, he Is author of
55 publications.
Plus de 23 ans d’expertise en transport urbain et projets dans + de 10 pays, Dario dirige
actuellement la recherche globale EMBARQ/WRI en Inde, Mexique, Brésil, Turquie, Colombie
et Chine. Doctorat en philosophie et maîtrise de sciences par l’Université d’Ohio et auteur de

Ina Hoimeier
Ina Homeier is an architect and has been working for the urban planning department of
the City of Vienna since 1994. She was also responsible for land use and district planning
(21stdistrict) for several years, and made an internship at the City of Vienna’s liaison office
in Brussels. She is a member of the Smart City Wien steering group and of the MoU Smart
City steering group of the City of Vienna and the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport,
Innovation and Technology.

Paul is a professor of urban planning at the University of Montreal. He is also Dean of the

Catherine is a civil engineer and associate professor at Polytechnique Montreal. She is head
of the Mobilité research chair on sustainable transportation and mobility. She conducts
research on travel behaviour as well as data collection methods, data processing and
visualisation.

Julie is Vice President & Deputy General Counsel at Microsoft, where she leads the legal team
for North America. She and her team spend much of their time evangelizing, negotiating

Julie is based in Boston.

As a Radio-Canada journalist for 27 years, he often covered issues related to public transit.
His reports as municipal affairs editor as well as his various feature stories often gave
television viewers greater insight into the way the STM operates. He also authored a book
titled Faire-part pour mariages forcés and published by Lanctôt in 2001, around the time of
the municipal mergers.
Chiaki Shigematsu
Representing Kyoto Prefecture he has been involved from the planning stage of Keihanna
Science City, designated in 2010 for industry-academia-gov.cooperation in Next-gen Energy
ï-Social Systems Projects. In addi-on he oversees various projects in Keihanna to develop
Smart Cities.

Horacio is currently the coordinator of the Emerging and Sustainable Cities Initiative at the
IDB for the Infrastructure and Environment Sector (INE) and a Lead Water and Sanitation
Specialist for the Water & Sanitation Division (WSA). He is an engineer with 20 years of
experience in the urban environmental field working for both the private sector and in
multilateral development organizations.

» à la BID pour le Secteur des Infrastructures et de l’Environnement (INE) et le principal
spécialiste en eau et assainissement de la Division Eau et Assainissement (WSA). Il est un

Kristina Verner
Currently responsible for the intelligent community programs within Waterfront Toronto,
Kristina is active both nationally and internationally in the smart city/intelligent community
movement. In 2014 she spearheaded the Toronto bid to be named the ICF’s 2014 Intelligent
Community of the Year.
