“ With their sophisticated music and spicy melodies, Jelly have no qualms about keeping their audience on their toes: they set out a rather loosy stall which they then shake to its foundations with more distorted riffs or serve that cocktail on the rocks’n’roll. A complex and successful brew, shaken not stirred”. (Music Productive, August 2005) “Wedged in between post-rock and electro, (…) the melodies glide subtly between guitar riffs and carefully crafted beats (…) and make light of musical styles, picking their way between alternative rock and electronic emotions.” (Accroches, July 2006) “There can be no doubt that Jelly will be one of the groups to watch on the Belgian scene over the coming months.” (Pop-rock.com) Jelly’s roots are in Braine-l’Alleud (and Enghien); their first incarnation emerged at the start of 2004. All the members brought together their respective backgrounds to forge a style of their own, which is at a crossroads. Hard to classify, Jelly decided to crystallize their work in a first EP made up of five songs and released in January 2005. This self-produced « Pre-First EP » flew off the shelves and was very warmly welcomed by professionals and tour-organisers. The gigs are really taking off and Jelly are seizing every opportunity they get. With their single “Helpless Ants”, they won the PureDemo competition on Pure FM radio in November 2005, which allowed them to perform on stage a couple of months later for the “Fête de la Communauté Française” (the celebrating day of the French-speaking part of Belgium) in Brussels and to be among those who will be broadcasted on the “Puredemo TV” show on RTBF (the main Belgian French-speaking TV channel). By supporting famous artists (Sioen, Flexa Lyndo, Major Deluxe, Eté 67, Malibu Stacy, Showstar, etc…), Jelly are gaining valuable experience and improving their showmanship. Spring 2006 will be focussed mainly on the recording of their second EP “Departure” (released in October 2006) which contains five of the most popular songs at their gigs. The group’s composition changed a bit over the Summer of 2006, but now the Jelly is set: the group has made its choices and found its voices! On stage, JELLY offers a blend of emotion, energy and intensity while taking us on a journey through various musical influences. And although electronic music has also become somewhat part of the game, the “alternative rock” component is still alive and kicking!
