Galerie d’art du Théâtre Capitol
La Galerie d’art du Théâtre Capitol est
présentement à la recherche d’artistes
visuels désirant mettre sur pied une
exposition durant la prochaine année.
Situé sur la rue Main au centre-ville de Moncton,
le Théâtre Capitol est surtout un centre des arts
d’interprétation. Il permet cependant d’accueillir les
artistes des disciplines touchant les arts visuels.
La Galerie d’art du Théâtre Capitol se trouve dans la partie
avant du Foyer Irving du centre des arts d’interprétation
et est devenue une aire d’exposition importante. Grâce
aux nombreux spectateurs qui assistent aux spectacles et
aux divers événements du Théâtre Capitol, les expositions
bénéficient d’une excellente visibilité.
Étant donné que le Théâtre Capitol est hôte de plusieurs
événements qui se tiennent dans le hall d’entrée et qu’il
s’y trouve parfois des foules importantes, la Galerie d’art
du Théâtre Capitol ne fait pas l’exposition de sculptures
ou d’autres œuvres qui pourraient être accidentellement
endommagées ou renversées.
Les artistes intéressés à devenir exposant à la Galerie
d’art du Théâtre Capitol doivent remplir le formulaire de
demande d’exposition ci-joint et le remettre au Théâtre
Capitol, avec le portfolio, avant le 31 mai prochain.
Le portfolio doit comprendre une courte biographie de
l’artiste, y compris une liste des expositions antérieures
et des expositions futures confirmées, une description de
l’exposition proposée et un minimum de dix diapositives
ou photos de ses œuvres récentes avec une liste où
figurent le titre des œuvres, la technique utilisée,
la taille des œuvres et la date de réalisation.
Afin que le public puisse voir de nouvelles œuvres
originales, nous demandons que la majorité des œuvres
n’aient pas été exposées ailleurs à Moncton. Un comité
des arts visuels coordonne la sélection des artistes.
Les expositions durent environ deux mois, selon les
autres activités prévues au théâtre.

Capitol Theatre Art Gallery
The Capitol Theatre Art Gallery is looking
for visual artists who would like to create
an art exhibit in the coming year.
The Capitol Theatre, located on Main Street in Downtown
Moncton, is primarily a centre for the performing arts.
However, it provides an opportunity to embrace artists
whose disciplines involve the visual arts.
The Capitol Gallery is located in the Irving lobby of the
performing arts centre, and has become an important
exhibition area. High attendance to performances at the
theatre ensures that exhibitions receive great visibility.
Because the Capitol Theatre lobby is host to many events
that often involve large crowds, the Capitol Theatre Art
Gallery does not include, in its exhibits, sculptures and
other mediums that could accidentally be broken
or damaged.
Artists interested in holding an art exhibit at the Capitol
Theatre Art Gallery must fill out the attached exhibition
submission form and submit it to the Capitol Theatre, with
their portfolio, before May 31st.
The portfolio should include a short biography of the
artist, including a list of previous and confirmed future
exhibitions, as well as a description of the proposed
exhibition and a minimum of ten slides or photographs
of recent work, accompanied by a list identifying the title,
medium, size and date completed.
Because we want the public to see new original work, we
ask that the majority of the proposed work has not been
exhibited elsewhere in Moncton. A Visual Arts Committee
oversees the selections of the artists. The exhibitions are
scheduled for approximately a two-month time period,
subject to other activities in the theatre.
