BRIEF HISTORY
?1937 Foundation of REOSC by a group of scientists of the Paris Institute of Optics including
?1978 REOSC is acquired by SFIM, a leader in aeronautic equipment
Start of the space activities with SPOT and METEOSAT.
?1992 Fusion with EVAP Service and MTO specialized in thin films coatings, REOSC turns to a
full subsidiary of SFIM.
?1996 Fusion with the Optical Division of SFIM ODS including the former MATRA Optique unit
?1999 SFIM Group is acquired by Sagem SA.
?2000 REOSC is a Business Unit of the Optronics and AirLand Systems Divison
?2005 Birth of SAFRAN group merging Sagem and SNECMA business.
REOSC activities are now part of the Optronic and Defense Division of Sagem Défense
Sécurite.

Henri CHRETIEN (the Ritchey-Chrétien telescope) and Charles FABRY (the Fabry-Pérot
interferometer).
During more than 40 years, REOSC designs and manufactures components and optical
instruments for demanding applications like astronomy, science and defense.
