» CIE PrÄk : Initiated by its artistic director, Katia Benbelkacem, Präk, as a company, was born in 2012, buoyed by its first project ‘Nipples theory’, a creation, which falls into the category of Dance Theatre. The team of artists is rich from its influences, from Anne-Marie Porras of CobosMika Company to the Geneva Youth Ballet. It inspires the audience with its quirky dynamic, its unity and its ability to surprise. “What we strive for is to stimulate creativity as much as possible; to be seeking new ideas, a unique chore graphic language; to find a way of telling a story, sometimes with humour, in a distinctive way. We endeavour to steer clear of trends, however attractive they my seem. We insist on the quality of interaction, the credibility of our artistic interpretation, the originality of form, to us it is more important than a flawless mastery of technique.” Nipples Theory, a performance that blends dance and theatricality, introduces 8 dancers who, for 40 minutes on stage, defend the cultural status of women. This production, which specifically targets an adult audience, aims to have an impact upon all those who are open to questioning their opinion of women. Following Adieu Maurice, a play supported by the CobosMika Company, staged in Girona and Palamos, Präk launched itself into its new creation, which is as eccentric as its previous one. On a war zone background, Nipples Theory stages the revolution of western society’s favourite tart: Barbie. In this colourful, plastic universe where the “pelmet skirt” has reigned for 50 years, the lipstick is about to come off. The smile erased. The façade will be unveiled. Unhinged, funny, risqué, pink turns into black. This is the story of these women who will no longer conform to a social ideal.
