14. TRAM NETWORK CREATION IN ATHENS, 2002-2005.
Research project financed by the Greek Transport Ministry and the Tramway
Company of Athens.
The research project took the shape of 3 three different projects although
linked together:

First approach towards a transport network in Athens, 2002-2003.
Extension of the tram network in Athens 2004-2010. New lines:
Syntagma-Ano Patissia, Neo Faliro-Pireas, Larissa station-university
campus, Syntagma-Kaisarini, 2004.
Extension of the tram network in Pireas and Apo Liosia/Thriasio, 2005.

The main aim of the research project is the creation of a large public transport
network in Athens, taking in account the Directing Scheme’s suggestions and
the various existing public transport networks (underground, tramway, bus,
trolley bus…). The aim of the Greek Transport Ministry (in charge of the
project) is to increase the help of public transport towards upgrading of urban
environment.

ATHENIENNE, 2002-2005.

du Tramway d’Athènes.
Ce programme de recherche a pris la forme de trois projets différents dans le
temps, mais étroitement liés entre eux :

L’objectif principal de ce projet de recherche est la création d’un large réseau
de transport en commun en site propre dans l’agglomération d’Athènes qui
tienne compte des propositions du Schéma Directeur d’Aménagement
d’Athènes, mais aussi des diverses politiques des services de transport
existant (Métro régional et urbain, Tram, Bus et Trolley) qui fonctionnent sans
coordination satisfaisante entre eux.
Le but défini par le Ministère des Transports qui en a la tutelle, vise à
maximaliser la contribution des transports en commun au déplacement
quotidien et par-là à l’amélioration de la qualité de l’environnement urbain
athénien.
