Sofigram introduces its latest innovation: a certified insulated kit that provides protection for heat-sensitive medicines at temperatures of + 5°C while they are in transit from the pharmacy until the patient’s house. Igloo is available for the general public since April 2016. In 8 years, the number of heat-sensitive medicines has increased by almost 50%. Today, one in two products are heat-sensitive. Vaccines, insulin, medicines against multiple sclerosis, chronic inflammatory diseases…, these fragile products that the patients transport themselves require great prudence in safeguarding the cold chain so as not to alter the drug quality and render it dangerous. Igloo is the result of 2 years of research and several collaborations with laboratories, wholesalers, hospitals, dispensing pharmacies and nearly 600 actual tests. Lightweight and easy to carry, this pouch that bears the Certicold Pharma label (external organism) stores the product at + 5°C for 1 hour (the necessary time to go home or to his doctor’s appointment) and can be reused up to 50 times. The pouch will be stored for at least 12 hours in the refrigerator before being used (at home or at the pharmacy). The pharmacist wraps the flexible gel pack around the medicine, places the whole inside the pouch and seals it before dispensing it to the patient. If the patient doesn’t see his doctor within one hour, he will place the pouch in his refrigerator without taking out the product. With this unique innovation, Sofigram hopes to gain 10% of the pouch market shares in France and is already considering the development of a larger pouch version for more voluminous products so as to cover all patients’ needs. On the occasion of Pharmapack Europe 2016, which was held in Paris in February 2016, Pylote’s innovative solution PyclearTM Protection received a Pharmapack 2016 Award in the Best Exhibitor Innovation category with the special mention “Patient Protection & CostEfficiency”. This solution is a breakthrough innovation in the field of anti-infective materials which allows replacing preservatives (such as parabens) in all products that may be in contact with humans, such as eye drops, creams or food products, requiring no change in the packaging or the existing manufacturing processes. Boosted by this recognition, Pylote speeds up its international development and will introduce for the first time its innovative technology solution in the US by attending two of the most important trade shows in the field of health and science, showcasing in particular its ophthalmic applications at Interphex (New York) in April 2016 and Arvo (Seattle) in May 2016. From 26 to 28 April 2016, Pylote will be exhibiting at Interfex throughout the duration of the show and can be visited at booth no. 3945. At Arvo, which is to be held in Seattle from 1 to 5 May 2016, Pylote will be exhibiting throughout the duration of the show and can be visited at booth no. 1536. These two shows will be the opportunity for Loïc Marchin, CEO of Pylote, and his teams to meet the entire scientific and industrial community in the field of pharmaceutical and ophthalmological products. Pylote has already established numerous contacts with American suppliers and pharmaceutical companies, some of which will attend these two trade shows. Loïc Marchin was invited to address an industrial and scientific panel at Interphex 2016 during a conference to be held on Tuesday, April 26 at 14:30 on the beneficial effects of PyclearTM Protection in terms of microbial protection.
