Maria Grazia Chiuri - Première haute couture Dior
MARIA GRAZIA CHIURI - HER FIRST HAUTE COUTURE COLLECTION FOR DIOR 25/01/2017 Dior Couture - printemps-été 2017 Christian Dior Appointed in July last year as Artistic Director of the Maison Christian Dior Couture replacing Raf Simons, Maria Grazia Chiuripresented her first Haute Couture collection yesterday. A show with the underlying theme of mystery and superstition, in reference to the fashion designer Christian Dior. Rhythmed by a runway show of models in long dresses, straight out of fairy tales or tarot cards of Marseilles, who decorated the garden at the Rodin Museum in Paris. An element of superstition and myth was also present in the collection itself, with a number of bustier dresses embroidered with astrological signs. The link between fashion and superstition is a recurrent theme. Yacine Aouadi, the guest of honour at the 2016 OPENMYMED Festival also used this source of inspiration for his very first Haute Couture collection, with particular regard to the number 13; 13 pieces in the collection, and 13 being the reference number of the French Departement where he was born, the Bouches-du-Rhône. Philippe Pujol, the journalist and writer from Marseilles, laureate of the Albert Londres prize in 2014, wrote an article on the subject, which is available in the OPENMYMED journal here.
