Master Students - Centred Study Days on Methodology
March 11th & 12th, 2015
It seems appropriate at this juncture to explain the difference between research method
and research methodology. The former may be understood as all those methods/ techniques
that are used in conducting research. The latter refers to a systematic way to solve a research
problem. In other words, it may be understood as a science of studying how research is done
scientifically. Many people are putt off by the word research (Mackey and Gass, 2007, p. 1),
mainly those who are novice in the field. To help master students gain a comprehensive
understanding of some concepts related to research methodology, a three part-series of study
days stretched on the three semesters will be organized. They are aimed to help students gain
an advanced understanding of a range of research concepts, as well as the skills needed to
prepare and present research.
Second Study Day
This is the second part of a two part-series- a one-day conference aimed at helping students
gain a comprehensive understanding of research approaches and methods, referencing, data
analysis…. in other words, anything helpful for master students to undertake their research.
