books. Each volume is the work of a different artist, associated in some way with Steven
Parrino through projects and exchanges, friendship, or reciprocal inspiration. Black Noise
celebrates a format Steven Parrino was fond of, and a culture that is close to him. The
authors invited in spring 2005 had no constraints other than the format and the overall title
of the publication. Some directly evoke the personality of Steven Parrino, while others take a
