Uncle Bob is getting up in years but manages quite well, thank
you. Then an unexpected illness changes everything. Suddenly
he’s scooped out of his safe and familiar surroundings and
thrust into the foreign and chaotic world of the hospital. His
former self-reliance is replaced by a constant barrage of
intruders, from the nurse who wakes him up for his sleeping pill,
to well-meaning visitors who bring him food he can’t eat. As his
hospital stay lengthens, Uncle Bob’s spirits and health decline,
and his old life becomes a distant memory. It isn’t until one very
special visitor reminds Uncle Bob just how much he is loved and
needed that he finds a reason to get well. Uncle Bob’s Hospital
Visit is a charming look at the importance of cheer, hope and love
in the healing process.
Oncle Bob ne rajeunit pas, mais il se débrouille très bien,
merci… jusqu’au jour où la maladie vient chambouler sa vie. Le
voilà subitement coupé de son milieu familier et plongé dans
l’univers inconnu et déroutant de l’hôpital. Son quotidien est
maintenant semé d’embûches. Pas un jour ne se passe sans
que des intrus viennent lui compliquer la vie, de l’infirmière qui
le tire du sommeil pour lui donner un somnifère, aux visiteurs
bien intentionnés qui lui apportent des aliments qu’il ne peut
pas manger. Plus son séjour se prolonge, plus son moral et sa
santé faiblissent. Sa vie d’autrefois n’est plus qu’un lointain
souvenir. Puis, lorsqu’une visite très spéciale lui rappelle à
quel point on l’aime et on a besoin de lui, il trouve une raison
de guérir. Rempli de charme et d’humour, Oncle Bob à l’hôpital
fait valoir l’importance du soutien, de l’espoir et de l’amour
dans le processus de guérison.

JoDee Samuelson is a multi-awardwinning animator and artist who
lives in Canoe Cove on the south
shore of Prince Edward Island.

In 2004, JoDee completed Mabel’s
Saga, a humorous look at the
“change” -- one of the most complicated periods in a woman’s life. The
film won the Best Short Film award
at the Montreal World Film Festival, in addition to other
prestigious international awards, including Best Short Film at the
International Women’s Film Festival in Torino, Italy, and a Silver
Spike at the Valledolid International Film Festival in Spain.
Film d’animation paru en 2004, Le voyage de Mabelle examine
avec humour la période de la ménopause, l’une des plus
complexes de la vie d’une femme. Le film obtient de nombreux
et prestigieux prix sur la scène internationale, dont celui du
meilleur court métrage au Festival international du film de
femmes de Turin, en Italie, et un Épi d’argent au Festival
international du film de Valladolid, en Espagne.
