Warda HADJAB [email protected] DE L'USAGE DES EMBLEMES ET SYMBOLES NATIONAUX: ESPACES, TEMPS ET ACTEURS. Abstract The use of emblems and national symbols in the public sphere vary according to time, space and actors who use them. The study of these uses in the historical context of the building of “nation-states”, more particularly in France, allows underlining the sacralisation process, which occurs within the framework of the emergence of "secular religion", established thanks to the Republic. A pictorial symbolism (in artistic works) and body movements were gradually set up from the end of the 18th century onwards and established the republican liturgy. Today, the emergence of young European Muslims in the public sphere has to be read in this long-term historical perspective, in order to better seize what is taking place. Consequently, actors who try out, in a new way, emblem and national symbols take part in the experience of the citizenship ; while innovating by the yardstick of their “Islamity”, they draw from the repertoire of the ways of being and acting. This new manner of being French triggers vivid polemics as it tests the public sphere. Mots-clés : espace public, sohbets, mouvement Gülen, sujet islamique, piété performative Abstract: This article concerns a new form of religious socialization of the Turkish girls who are sympathizers of the hizmet movement, which is a religious and transnational movement, inspired by Fethullah Gülen, in France. It is around the gatherings allowing an exchange of discourse named "sohbets " in the Muslim tradition within which occurs the formation and the socialization of a feminine pious actor in an European context. These girls participate into sohbets, in order to compensate the dichotomy between the secular public space (in particular at the school and at the university) and the private space where they learn to become "pious" by an access to the religious knowledge. By reactivating an Islamic memory with the discourse of sohbets, they appropriate the practice of the rhetoric and the performance in the everyday life, in the sphere public. Mots-clés : espace public, sociologie de l’interpénétration, contre-culture, santé médecines douces, New Age, médecines naturelles Abstract : Through a field work on naturopathy diffusion on the French public sphere, this article interrogates the notion of space in the perspective of interpenetration sociology, developed by N. Göle. Displacing the approach from the study of the European public Islam to the observation of alternative medicines, funded on the New Age movement, the aim of this paper is to question in a systematic way the theoretical and methodological use of spatial analysis categories. Approaching the social manifestations by the notions of space and public sphere permits to understand the cultural facts in their confrontational reality. Naturopathy isn’t recognized as a medicine in the secular French state. Its’ actors evaluate in alternative spaces, at different scales, and consolidate the habitus of this topic. In this way, they contribute to the diffusion of this therapy to new publics. Abstract: The European “Islamic Windows” testify a pacific encounter between Islam and Europe. Their typology show the articulation between two distinct financial systems: one secular and laic so far those religious factors don’t define them, the second who is submitted to Islamic principles and rules. They are in this way a critic to the “Choc of Civilisational”, and testify an interpenetration sharing a common financial and banking space. If this encounter is easier in the financial and economic field, it is also performative: the articulation between conventional finance and Islamic finance suppose the rooting of the Islamic financial model in Europe and a new composition of the European conventional markets. Islam through the Islamic finance becomes an economic and financial European actor. Abstract : Domes and minarets rising up the Golden Horn since the historical peninsula draw an outline fixed in the imagination of its inhabitants and millions of annual visitors. Without it, Istanbul would "lose part of his soul"2. In a metropolis spread on more than five thousand square kilometers, emerges a mythical space crowned by Saint Sophia, Sultanahmet, Sülemaniye, Fatih Sultan Selim; a space with "mystical properties" [2] . From the rehabilitated neighborhoods of Fener and Balat, located under the Sultan Selim mosque, on the South shore of the Golden Horn, we will observe these properties. In other words, we will try to understand the effectiveness of a speech recalling the magnitude of a shared heritage to create social links, reorganize urban life and form symbolic spaces through which new urban imaginaries are emerging. Abstract : Throughout the twentieth century, during the Carnival of Salvador (Brazil), a wide range of images and discourses on the non-Western world was set up in people's clothes, in song lyrics, musical rhythms, the names of the carnival groups and the allegories that adorned the city. Out of their contexts, these performances verge on the absurd. Examined in the light of a "pure reason" these performances could be considered as an illusion unrelated to historical reality, a mere orientalist carnival confusion. However, in order to understand the sociological dimension of this complex phenomenon, one must abandon any theory of knowledge based on an abstract and universal idea of reason for the exercise of a sociology of knowledge that replaces reason by rationality conceived as historical and cultural logic. In other words, beyond the dreamlike and "unreal" character of these stylized representations of "the East", I seek to understand their specific rationality, what enables their recurrence over history.
