A SPECIAL JOURNEY THROUGH NOVA SCOTIA ACADIAN COMMUNITIES FOR THE
FLAME OF THE 29E FINALE DES JEUX DE L’ACADIE
HALIFAX (May 22, 2008) – The flame for the 29th Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie will follow a unique road
map around Nova Scotia. To commemorate the first time this Finale is held in Nova Scotia, the flame will
leave Tracadie-Sheila in New Brunswick on June 1st. Contrary to tradition, the flame will not tour former
Finale host communities, but will be taken on a tour of Acadian communities and schools throughout
Nova Scotia. On June 6th, it will arrive in Halifax Regional Municipality, host city for the Finale des Jeux de
l’Acadie
This unique tour, sponsored by Acadian Seaplants Limited will offer young athletes from throughout
Acadian Nova Scotia an opportunity to carry the flame. In every host community or school a welcoming
committee has been set up and representatives from community organizations, schools, and the
provincial government will be invited to say a few words. The flame relay will be traveling throughout
the Province accompanied by the 29e Finale Organizing Committee representatives Sonia Losier, Flame
Relay committee coordinator, Roger Arsenault, President, and Suzanne Roy, Advertising and Promotion.
The famous mascot of the Jeux de l’Acadie, the beloved Acajoux, will be there, of course!
The whole community is invited to join the Organizing Committee members as the flame goes through
your town or community. Let the good times roll…or run !
