On the fifth Sunday of the month children
and adults worship together at the 10am
service and there is no Sunday School.
However the Children’s Chapel at the back
of the cathedral is arranged as a safe place
for small children at any time. Feel free to
use it during any of the services.

This morning we begin the Eucharist in the cathedral
forecourt and process around the cathedral to remind us of
Jesus’s journey and entry into Jerusalem.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, during Lent
we have been preparing by works of love,
prayer and self-sacrifice for the celebration of
our Lord’s death and resurrection. Today we
come together to begin this solemn celebration
in union with Christians throughout the world.
Christ enters his own city to complete his work
as our Saviour, to suffer, to die, and to rise
again. Let us go with him in faith and love, so
that, united with him in his sufferings, we may
share his risen life.

Frères et sœurs dans le Christ, pendant le
Carême, nous avons préparé nos cœurs par la
prière, la pénitence et le partage. Nous voici
rassemblés en ce début de la Semaine sainte
pour entreprendre avec toute l’Église la
célébration du Mystère pascal. Aujourd’hui, le
Christ entre à Jérusalem, la ville sainte, où il va
mourir et ressusciter. Mettons toute notre foi
à rappeler maintenant le souvenir de cette
entrée triomphale de notre Sauveur ; suivonsle dans sa passion jusqu’à la croix pour
prendre part à sa résurrection et à sa vie.

Lorsqu’ils approchent de Jérusalem, vers Bethphagé et
Béthanie, près du mont des Oliviers, Jésus envoie deux
de ses disciples et leur dit : « Allez au village qui est en
face de vous. Dès que vous y entrerez, vous trouverez
un petit âne attaché, sur lequel personne ne s’est
encore assis. Détachez-le et amenez-le. Si l’on vous dit :
“Que faites-vous là ?”, répondez : “Le Seigneur en a
besoin, mais il vous le renverra aussitôt.” » Ils partirent,
trouvèrent un petit âne attaché près d’une porte,
dehors, dans la rue, et ils le détachèrent. Des gens qui
se trouvaient là leur demandaient : « Qu’avez-vous à
détacher cet ânon ? » Ils répondirent ce que Jésus leur
avait dit, et on les laissa faire. Ils amenèrent le petit âne
à Jésus, le couvrirent de leurs manteaux, et Jésus s’assit
dessus. Alors, beaucoup de gens étendirent leurs
manteaux sur le chemin, d’autres, des feuillages coupés
dans les champs. Ceux qui marchaient devant et ceux
qui suivaient criaient : « Hosanna ! Béni soit celui qui
vient au nom du Seigneur ! Béni soit le Règne qui vient,
celui de David, notre père. Hosanna au plus haut des
cieux ! » Jésus entra à Jérusalem, dans le Temple. Il
parcourut du regard toutes choses et, comme c’était
déjà le soir, il sortit pour aller à Béthanie avec les
Douze.
When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage
and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, he sent two of
his disciples and said to them, "Go into the village ahead
of you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find tied
there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring
it. If anyone says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' just
say this, 'The Lord needs it and will send it back here
immediately.'" They went away and found a colt tied near
a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it,
some of the bystanders said to them, "What are you
doing, untying the colt?" They told them what Jesus had
said; and they allowed them to take it. Then they
brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it;
and he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the
road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut
in the fields. Then those who went ahead and those who
followed were shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is the one
who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the
coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the
highest heaven!" Then he entered Jerusalem and went
into the temple; and when he had looked around at
everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany
with the twelve.

Cathedral in Downtown Montréal. Please give generously. If you
would like to find out about regular or tax efficient ways of giving
please speak to a steward.
Through our outreach programmes the Cathedral supports many
local organizations which help the needy.

de la cathédrale au centre-ville de Montréal.

PRAYER AT THE CATHEDRAL
HOLY WEEK. This week is the most important week of
the Christian Year. The Liturgy is a spiritual journey
through the last week of Jesus’s ministry before the
Resurrection. It is a time for the community to share
and worship together. The times of all the services are
listed below.
