forty of us gathered in the main drawing room at the Chateau at Beaufort. All our
thanks again to Marc and Maria Bajer, and also to Ernesto Cordeiro who so kindly
helped us set up the event and welcome the guests.
The next movie, also on the topic of art, will be shown on the 4th of May in the
same locaton. In order to cover expenses (flm rights, drinks, etc…) a small
contributon of 4 € will be requested.
To illustrate each newsleter we have chosen miniatures from the 15th Century calendar,

Unique Cookery Book Fair in the Limousin; it is held in the heart of Corrèze, in an
area which is proud of its rural heritage. The Fair is an invitaton to get of the
beaten track of urban centres and to come and discover a "Corrèze gourmande"
where people are hospitable and life enjoyable.
Writers and their books are at the centre of this Fair, but the organisers favour a
close coordinaton with the public and the sharing of this "devouring passion"
which is the cookery book.

Recipe : Seven-hour Shoulder of Lamb
Perfect for a family Easter lunch or dinner. For lunch, cook it the night before - about 5 hours - and the next day trim of the fat and cook for a
further 2 hours. For dinner, start cooking at about 2pm - but in any case take the lamb out of the fridge a couple of hours before you cook it.
Ingredients (serves 6-8) : 1 shoulder of lamb - about 2 kilos, rosemary, 4 medium sized onions cut into large chunks, 2 garlic bulbs, 3 carrots (and 3
parsnips if you wish), 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 250ml dry white wine, salt and pepper.
Preparation : Heat up the oven at 180C. Rub some oil, salt and pepper into the meat. Place the rest of the oil with the onions into a large casserole
pot with a lid and put the lamb on top. Brown in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Turn the oven down to 110C. Add the rosemary, garlic and wine.Cook
for another two hours with the lid on, bastng once in a while. Add the carrots (and parsnips) sliced lengthways and cook for a further 4 hours or so.
The lamb should fall of the bone; if you need a knife, it’s not cooked enough.
Serve with mashed potato or, even easier and delicious, with a couscous aux epices (e.g. Tipiak)
