The h o s t rock i s Cambrian r u s t y p h y l l i t e of t h e Horset h i e f Creek group. The main showing i s a q u a r t z v e i n a b o u t
2 f e e t wide c o n t a i n i n g galena. A second v e i n 8 i n c h e s wide
o u t c r o p s 8 f e e t below t h i s v e i n . About 1,000 f e e t downstrean
a n o t h e r 8 i n c h wide v e i n of massive g a l e n a i s exposed i n t h e
c r e e k bed. The 1981 d r i l l i n g and sampling gave s i l v e r v a l u e s
ranging from 2.4 t o 6.4 o z / t f t u n g s t e n a s s a y e d 0.68% a c r o s s
0.6 m e t r e s ; t i n was found i n a 1 1 v e i n i n t e r s e c t i o n s w i t h
a s s a y s of 0.28% o v e r 1 . 2 m e t r e s , 0.25% over 0.4 m e t r e s , and
0.22% o v e r 1 metre (Northern Miner, 14/01/82).

HISTORY OF EXPLORATION AND DEVELOPMENT
HISTORIQUE DE L'EXPLORATION ET DE LA MISE EN VALEUR
The p r o p e r t y i s l o c a t e d a t about 6,000' e l e v a t i o n on
S p r i n g Creek, a t r i b u t a r y of Crawford Creek, some 32 m i l e s
west of Kimberley.
E a r l y work on t h e showings, r e p o r t e d l y i n t h e 1 8 9 0 1 s ,
was done i n a s h o r t a d i t . F u r t h e r p r o s p e c t i n g on t h e
showings was done i n 1926 by J . W . Mulholland on b e h a l f of
Portland interests.
The showings were h e l d a s t h e Barefoot 1 and 2 c l a i m s
by C. Derbyshire, of Crawford Bay and a s s o c i a t e s , and
a c q u i r e d by Rose P a s s H n e s Ltd. i n about 1967. Work by
t h e company i n t h e p e r i o d 1968-72 i n c l u d e d b u l l d o z e r
t r e n c h i n g and more than 1,300' of diamond d r i l l i n g i n 8 o r
more h o l e s . The company name (Rose Pass) w a s changed i n
1974 t o Range I n d u s t r i e s L t d ; t h e p r o p e r t y a t t h a t time had
been reduced t o 22 claims.
S p r i n g p o i n t Resources Ltd, i n 1980 a c q u i r e d t h e J a c k a s s
group of 12 recorded c l a i m s c o v e r i n g t h e showings; an
a d d i t i o n a l 24 c l a i m s ( B a r e f o o t group) was s t a k e d a d j a c e n t .
Work i n 1981 i n c l u d e d 367 m e t r e s of diamond d r i l l i n g i n 6
holes.
