 ETAPE 1 – STAGE 1 (BITAM-­‐EBOLOWA) Les Espagnols au pouvoir
La première étape de la Tropicale qui arrivait cet après-midi sur le territoire camerounais a permis
de constater que les équipes professionnlles sont venues ici avec de grosses intentions. A
commencer par celle de Caja Rural de Luis Leon Sanchez le vainqueur du jour qui a tout fait pour
mettre son leader dans les meilleures conditions. Echappé très rapidement en compagnie de vingt
autres coureurs, l'ancien vainqueur d'étapes du Tour de France a su usé de son expérience pour
filer jusqu'au bout avec cinq autres rescapés dont l'ancien maillot jaune du Tour de France Linus
Gerdemann mais aussi l'Erythréen Natnael Berhane de l'équipe Europcar. Celui-ci avait bien
lancé le sprint à 300 mètres de la ligne d'arrivée mais il était finalement battu sur le fil par
Sanchez. "C'est une victoire rassurante pour moi, a déclaré l'Espagnol. Ca veut dire que j'ai déjà
retrouvé de bonnes sensations malgré cette forte chaleur qui nous change du froid en Europe."
Grâce aux bonifications des sprints intermediaires, c'est un autre espagnol qui occupe la place de
leader de l'épreuve avec une seconde d'avance sur Sanchez et sept sur Berhane. «Je suis
heureux de cette première journée, a expliqué l’Erythréen, je voulais me tester après cet hiver
passé chez moi. Je suis content de mon travail, tout reste à faire sur cette Tropicale pour réussir
une belle performance à l’arrivée finale. Je suis venu pour ça.»
The Spanish power
The first stage of the Tropicale Amissa Bongo happening this afternoon in Cameroon showed that professionnal teams came here with great intentions. At first with the Caja Rural Team of Luis Leon Sanchez which did everything today to put its leader in the best conditions. Escaped very quickly along with twenty other riders, the former stages of the Tour de France winner has used his experience to spin through with five other survivors including former yellow jersey of the Tour de France Linus Gerdemann but also Natnael Berhane the Eritrean of the Team Europcar. It was well launched the sprint 300 meters from the finish line but he was finally beaten on the line by Sanchez. "This victory rassured me , the Spaniard said. That mean I have already found a good feeling despite the strong heat that changes us from the cold in Europe." With bonifications of the intermediate sprints, is another Spanish the first leader of the race with a second ahead of Sanchez and seven Berhane. “I am very happy with this first day, the Eritrean said, happy with my work. I think, there are beautiful things to do till the last stage. I am here to do a very good performance. It’s my ambition.”
