Applications
The CR-01200-0 and CR-02400-0 Command Relays
facilitate the starting and stopping of motors. The
relays are manufactured for use with the
Johnson Controls® Current Switch Device (CSD)
Series product. The relays are offered with actuation
coil voltages of 24 VAC/VDC and 12 VAC/VDC. Each
relay includes a Light-Emitting Diode (LED) status light
that indicates the operating status of the relay.
!
AVERTISSEMENT : Risque de
blessure.
Ne pas toucher le CR-02400-0 relay
lorsque le relay est sous tension. La
surface du relay devient extrêmement
chaude durant son utilisation et risque de
provoquer des brûlures graves en cas de
contact.
The relays require an AC or DC power supply to
operate, and can be wired to an independent circuit or
in conjunction with current switch contacts.
IMPORTANT: The Command Relay is intended to
provide an input to equipment under normal
operating conditions. Where failure or malfunction of
the relay could lead to personal injury or property
damage to the controlled equipment or other
property, additional precautions must be designed
into the control system. Incorporate and maintain
other devices, such as supervisory or alarm systems
or safety or limit controls, intended to warn of or
protect against failure or malfunction of the relay.
WARNING: Risk of Personal Injury.
Do not touch the CR-02400-0 relay while
power is applied to the relay. The relay
surface is hot during use, and may cause
a serious burn upon contact.
IMPORTANT: Install the CSD Series Current
Devices only on the input side of a variable speed
drive. Otherwise excessive wear may occur on the
controlled equipment, as well as premature failure of
the CSD Series Current Devices.
Mounting
To mount the command relay:
1. Using a clean, dry cloth, wipe the mounting area on
the current switch.
2. Remove the release paper from the adhesive strip
on the relay. Avoid touching the exposed adhesive
on the relay.
3. Snap the relay into place on the current switch
(Figure 1).
4. Press and hold the parts together for 5 to 10
seconds.

WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock.
Disconnect the power supply before
making electrical connections. Contact with
components carrying hazardous voltage
can cause electric shock and may result in
severe personal injury or death.
AVERTISSEMENT : Risque de
décharge électrique.
Débrancher l'alimentation avant de réaliser
tout branchement électrique. Tout contact
avec des composants conducteurs de
tensions dangereuses risque d'entraîner
une décharge électrique et de provoquer
des blessures graves, voire mortelles.
To wire the command relay, follow these steps and see
Figure 2:
1. Connect the proper AC or DC voltage for the relay
being used to the terminals marked COIL. The coil
is not polarity sensitive.

The relay contacts are Normally Open (N.O.) when no
control signal is applied to the COIL terminals. The
relay contacts close and the LED illuminates when the
proper voltage is applied to the COIL terminals. The
relay N.O. terminals remain closed and the LED
remains illuminated provided power is maintained on
the COIL terminals.
Setup and Adjustments
The command relay requires no additional setup,
adjustments, or commissioning.
Repair Information
If either the CR-01200-0 or CR-02400-0 Command
Relay fails to operate within its specifications, replace
the unit. For a replacement relay, contact your nearest
Johnson Controls® representative.
Troubleshooting
See Table 1 for troubleshooting information.

Problem
Action
LED does not light,
and the relay output
does not switch, or
relay opens and
closes erratically.
Verify that the proper voltage
control signal is present and that
the available current is within the
range specified for the relay coil
current. See Technical
Specifications.
LED remains
illuminated, but
relay contacts open
and close properly.
Possible LED damage. See
Technical Specifications.
Relay remains
closed, but LED
turns on and off
properly.
Possible relay damage. See
Technical Specifications.
